I have always had a soft spot for a beautiful lace gown, and Ophelia is one of my favourites from Anna's newest collection.

The French wedding tradition that could fix your guest list problem (and save you money)

A little while ago, I had the pleasure of being a guest on the @weddingsunfiltered_ podcast. The gals opened by asking me to share some French wedding traditions and I cannot believe I forgot to share this one!

It's called a vin d'honneur — literally "wine of honour."

In France, this is SO common, almost every wedding has one. It's the toast that happens straight after the ceremony (civil or religious), before the formal reception. Think Champagne, canapés, someone's uncle giving an impromptu speech, and a couple hours of pure celebration in the sun. It's relaxed, it's generous, and it's very "come as you are and raise a glass with us."

Here's the bit I love most though: the vin d'honneur is actually the secret to a genius two-tier guest list.

Because here's the truth; not everyone needs to be at your sit-down dinner. Work friends, extended family, your mum's whole book club, the neighbours who watched you grow up... you love them, you want them there, but a full formal dinner for 150+ isn't always realistic (or in the budget).

The vin d'honneur solves this beautifully:

🥂 Tier one — your nearest and dearest are with you for the ceremony AND the vin d'honneur AND the seated dinner and dancing after

🥂 Tier two — a wider circle joins you for the ceremony and the vin d'honneur, then heads off as you move into the more intimate dinner

Nobody feels like they got a "lesser" invite. They were there, they celebrated, they clinked glasses with you. You just get to keep your reception guest list (and your budget) exactly the size you want it.

Meet the Mara Top, a collaboration with the incredible Lilia Cass.

I reached out to Lilia with an idea: could we design a lace top together? From there we picked out this beautiful lace, and built something with real intention, a piece you could layer and wear across every event of your bridal era, and just as easily wear long after it.

In Lilia's words: "Designed to be worn over or under, the Mara Top is an exercise in considered simplicity. A high, straight neckline with the softest cowl into a long sleeve silhouette that skims and moves. The neckline is finished with a fine hand-rolled seam."

Available in detailed stretch Chantilly lace for and bias-cut silk chiffon.

This is a staple that can be worn well beyond your wedding day and designed to dress up or down.
