Future Oscar winner, or at least that's the plan 📸🎥

It was so amazing to experience, for the first time, how an idea transforms into a film. Let me tell you more:

As part of my curriculum at SCAD, I took FILM 101 in my first quarter, where we learned the basics and foundations of filmmaking from the amazing professor Jeff Stephenson. We also developed our own ideas, from writing the script all the way to screening our films in the last class of the quarter.

Trapped as Zero couldn’t really fit the project limits: 4 hours of production time, 3 script pages, 2 people, and 1 location. However, instead of ditching the idea, I did my best to wrap it around the project requirements as much as I could.

As the production date approached, I was constantly refining my script and minimizing shots. Unfortunately, I also had to worry about not having any actors reach out from my casting calls. Nevertheless, I kept my hopes up, and less than 24 hours before shooting, I found two people who were so excited for the roles.

With my classmates' help, we filmed 19 shots, 7 scenes, and several set designs. And we had to do all of that in 3 hours and 45 minutes before we had to evacuate the location for the next production.

Although most of this project was nothing like I imagined, I’m still overwhelmed by the remarkable effort everyone and I put into it. I’m so grateful for the new friendships, the knowledge, and all the fun I had along the way.

Sometimes I get so caught up that I forget to take care of myself. That’s when I disconnect step away from everything and return to exploring, to adventures, to nature. It’s where I renew my faith and reconnect with the universe. Driving with no rush, reminding myself it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey… about my own wellbeing. Life can get heavy, but we’re the only ones who can lighten it. I know it may not make sense to everyone, but I find my happiest moments when I’m alone discovering, reflecting, and rediscovering myself.
