I am so so excited to share this cover for my standalone romantasy, coming April 22nd!!!!! @thelolloco did such extraordinary work bringing my cover to life and I'm utterly OBSESSED!!!! It's so gorgeous, I can't stop staring!!!!

There is no place for elves in this world, but Sylvaine knows she's destined for greatness—a world-famous bard entertaining the finest nobility as far as Lindale. Unfortunately, performing in her local tavern off the beaten path lends scant opportunity to distinguish herself.

Until a group of adventurers arrive, promising fame, wealth, and glory when they slay the last dragon of their age and find the lost hoard. Syl convinces them they’ll need a bard to spread word of their heroics, and if she can claim some honor for herself along the way, well no one could fault her for recognizing a mutually beneficial arrangement. Even if it means ignoring the glaring disapproval of the hulking warrior assigned to protect her.

Jaromir is rude and ill-tempered. He makes no effort to hide his distaste when she joins their group. But as they grow closer, and are unable to deny the heat of their attraction, she discovers there's more to him than his poor manners. He brings her passion, peace, and safety in a world in which she’s never felt welcome.

When the group suffers a great loss, they must use the power of a convincing story to keep their quest alive. A future that once seemed impossible, is suddenly within reach with Jaromir by her side. But even the ballads of love are rife with sorrow. Syl must slay her own dragons before she has a chance at surviving this journey and writing the ending she yearns for. Every bard knows the victorious ending comes at a price. Syl will see this tale through, no matter what it costs her...

It's #caturday and Demon is here to spill the tea... not really. I saw an opportunity and took it. Man, but wouldn't that have been an awesome intro to a hot take or a dramatic reveal?

Today, I want to thank the people who have helped me with SOW.

@frielwrites was the first person to ever read my story with her own eyeballs. (I read it aloud to Lance) and I couldn't have asked for a better reader. I found a kindred spirit, my writing soulmate, and my best friend. I would have curled up in a ball of imposter syndrome were it not for you. You gave me courage, and you understood me and my story even in its roughest form. I love you so damn much!!
Okay I'll save the emotions for the acknowledgements. *fans tear filled eyes*

My editor, @frieledits for doing an AMAZING job tackling all of my issues, pushing me to develop plot to cover the holes, (wanky), and for talking me through each edit and holding my hand along the way. It's scary, readying your story for public consumption, but I never felt alone.

@ellecaldwellwrites my writing sister of blood and gore! You are so brilliant and you pushed me to make my story stronger, but always with a gentle hand. I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for me. I love you more than a blood groove loves to be filled. Okay, that came out way creepier than I intended, but the sentiment is the same.

@authorkkhavari I can't even handle how much you've strengthened my story on a plot level. Challenging me to dig deeper. I'm so lucky to have found such an amazing critique partner. I love you♡♡ WE WILL HAVE THAT ZOOM CALL

Today is the day. Songs of the Wicked is officially published.

I'm in a bit of shock, I think.

One year of drafting.
Four months of beta readers.
One year and three months of self editing.
Three months of working with my amazing editor @greymothediting
Three rounds of proofreading.

And now we're here.

You can find Songs of the Wicked in ebook, paperback, or hardcover at Barnes and Noble, Amazon, my website linked in my bio, and apparently paperbacks at Walmart. Right now on Amazon it's listed as "temporarily out of stock" (dude. You guys bought me out of stock. THANK YOU😭) but I believe it will be restocked by the end of the day. And it is still in stock at Barnes and Noble!

There is a very long list of thank you's I need to say but I'll start with Lance. He doesn't have social media or anything so he won't see this, but he has been so enthusiastically supportive of this book from the fledgling idea of a plot. He made even the hard parts fun and has heard my book 3 times, and spent the last 2.5 years talking nonstop about my book and characters with me. (And campaigning for a Hugo standalone that I've caved and agreed to) I love him and he deserves a freaking medal.

There are literally so many more and my brain is mush so I'll have to do a post dedicated just to personalized thank you's to all the amazing people who have been there for me so keep an eye out for those. But I wanna say a quick thank you to this amazing, supportive, and welcoming community. I never imagined I'd let anyone even read my book let alone actually publish it. All of you are amazing and inspiring and I'm so grateful.

Apple pie season 🍎 September holds a special significance to me. Many of my favorite memories and discoveries have happened in September. For me, it's the month when anything is possible.

And I'm writing again. After how tough this summer has been, it's a catharsis to find my way back here, once more.
