“Schmeckt Gut”
Translation is Tastes Good in German. This has been an important phrase in my family for years, not only because of our German heritage, but because food brings us together and bonds us just a little more than our blood. Some key components of this photo I took this morning while assembling my Beinenstich Kuchen (Bee sting cake).
1) The cake, homemade German cake with a modern flare I believe this shows the constant evolving of my family but always sticking to our roots.
2) The apron, this apron was sewn by me using vintage remake fabrics. The pattern of the apron was inspired by one of my great grandmothers’ apron she used to make delicious foo ends of the ties is what I am truly in love with, a make-shift Edelweiss flower the flower of Austria/Germany a nod to my family’s homeland.
3) Me, while I’m not pictured, I took this picture using my canon hoping to capture just what I was doing in the kitchen. I’m times of change I believe it is important to remember all the little traditions and things significant to you and your up bringing. I’m proud of my German-American heritage and I hope to keep sharing my love for my family with everyone. Remember to make art however you like, mine just happens to Schmeckt Gut 🤭🥰

I could talk about how I loved the clouds, the mountains, or even how the dust settled in this picture forever, but that's not it. I would like to focus on the out-of-focus subject, Dr. Kennedy. Dr. Kennedy has been an amazing instructor while taking this photography maymester. She has inspired me to continue to take a chance and do something different in whatever it is. My skill level in photography and my confidence in my work have tremendously improved all thanks to this amazing professor. I am truly grateful for this experience and hope to continue seeking new adventures. Thank you dr. Kennedy. #ttuacom2303 @lindsay_onthefly @ttudaviscollege by @c.grace_designs

One of my favorite shots from Santa Fe was my star booties at the Lucchese store. Yes after I took this picture I gawk over the beautiful patterns, colors, and shadows, then I texted my dad and said I needed all 3 pairs. #ttuacom2303 @lucchese by @c.grace_designs

Night photography is always fun with lots of colorful lights. It's especially fun when Will Rogers is showing my sorority chapter's colors! This photo represents 2 of my favorite things, Alpha Chi Omega and Texas Tech University! #ttuacom2303

The craziest part of being in New Mexico as a kid from South Texas is seeing mountains in nearly every picture I took. This is a picture I took of the landscape of Santa Fe I took, and wow I am still so amazed by the mountains and completely different terrain than back home. I hope to come back and soak in every moment of the city someday in the future. #ttuacom2303 by @c.grace_designs

Is this a cliche for Santa Fe? If so I am totally living here someday or at least visiting a lot. Today we took a trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and I fell in love. From the chili peppers hanging and the natives selling beautiful turquoise and jewelry, every bit needed to be photographed and admired by everyone. The city was so bright and vibrant with life and color, so as my favorite musical Newsies "Dreams come true. Yeah, they do. In Santa Fe." #ttuacom2303 by @c.grace_designs

I love this photograph, I truly believe it shows a great sense of tradition, family, and generations. The time I have had at the Wrye Ranch has been so rewarding, and the time I have spent in Dr. Kennedy's photography maymester. I have gone from not even knowing how to hold a camera to taking photographs I would love to print and hang in my home. #ttuacom2303 by @c.grace_designs
