THANK YOU FML FEST!! This year, We were able to donate $7,914.93 to 5 different UT-based charities. Splits of the overall donation amount were decided BY YOU when entering the festival!

We could not have done this without our friends at @kuteradio and @hyphaproductions. Very grateful to all their staff, patience, and generosity during the whole process.

A very special thank you to @polyvinylrecords, @topshelfrecords, @emorecordlabel, @ch.point, @timemachineskateshop, and @charaderecords for their generosity in donating merch. 100% of all donated merch sales went directly to charity.

We are very grateful for all of you for participating. Hosting shows in the alleyway is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time. We’ll see you next year :)

Unfortunately, due to the Utah Immigrant Advocacy Coalition being unable to accept new donations at this time, we have pivoted to donating their portion to a similarly minded foundation, Comunidades Unidas. Founded in 1999, Communidades Unidas fights to build the social and political power of people who identify as Latine immigrants (including undocumented folks) living in Utah. Defending the human rights of our community by connecting them to the social service programs they need to prosper and with opportunities to organize to transform themselves and their community.

GIZZMOIX started in the smallest way possible - late nights in a bedroom, experimenting with 8-bit sounds and pushing them onto Game Boy cartridges just to see what would happen.

It was raw, curious, and completely driven by passion rather than plans. Those early releases felt more like secret artifacts than products, shared among a small circle who understood the charm of lo-fi limits and playful experimentation.

Nin-do and music have always played a huge part in my life - from playing Mario Party with cousins you rarely see anymore to eventually booking your own punk shows. So why not combine both passions?

To celebrate five years of Gizzmoix Records, I’m releasing six projects by bands that massively impacted my life - flashed, cut, and assembled by hand onto custom Nin-do DS cartridges. Each album comes with its own little story, a snapshot of a memory, a feeling, or a time that stuck with me.

Go rock the new GIZZMOIX “I ONLY LISTEN TO EMO ON DS” shirt!!!

I don’t really want to spell out what these records and the people behind them mean to me. Some are people I met at shows, some are the reason this label exists at all, and some are legends I held onto when my first real heartbreak hit at sixteen. That meaning is mine, but what matters more is what they become to you!

At the end of the day, I’m just one guy shipping records, contacting bands, and doing the occasional graphic design. I hope you take these releases, sit with them, and make your own memories. That’s what this has always been about.

GIZZMOIX will always be a 100% DIY passion project.

That’s exactly why so many of these releases exist in collaboration with labels from all around the world - without them, this label wouldn’t stand a chance.

Huge shoutout to: Hunkofplastic Records, Desperate Infant Records, BSDJ label, Oliver Glenn Records, Best Life Records, I Am Home Here Tapes, Erich Fried Records, Dancing Rabbit Records, Dying Dutchman (RIP), Self Versed Records, Milkcrate Merch, See You Next Summer (RIP), and many more.

THANK YOU!

A closer look at the SoundCube, a SoundFont synthesizer I built this past winter inside the shell of an old Nintendo GameCube that @jameswittecook performed at our most recent show. The UI is controlled via a USB game controller and plays with any USB midi controller like a keyboard or EWI.

Starting this project I knew little to nothing about what it would take to complete it (and frankly still don't know much at all.) But I learned a lot about SBCs, Linux, SPI, 3D printing, the MIDI protocol, and much more.

Huge shout-out to @mintyscustoms_ for helping with the sick custom wrapped controller. Bryan was literally one of the first fans of c h point and has stuck around supporting everything I do. Check out Mintys Customs for all your controller customization needs.

Also shout-out to James for helping me debug this thing. The amount of iteration it needed to get to a playable state was tedious (and I literally just found a fatal bug that James somehow avoided last week.) by @c.h.point
