A calling to serve.

A current struggle of mine is service. To our God, our Lord and the Spirit but also to people, relationships and work. Service is ultimately a choice, do the right thing or the wrong thing and even the little decisions we make through out the day still make a difference.

Do you walk towards God or wander away from him?

A difference to be kind instead of cruel, a view to be generous rather than tight fisted, a choice to offer a listening ear instead of gossip. But we all know the golden rule (Matt 7:12) “Treat people how you want to be treated”. And yet, we still choose to put ourselves above others. Either for convenience, over views we have about the other person or just pure laziness.

I’m saying this, not as someone who has got it all figured out btw. I still slip and do the things I’ve mentioned above and as much as I hate myself for it I still find myself falling into some old patterns again and again. (I can’t even begin to tell you how grateful I am for Gods’ grace). But it did get easier and is still getting easier, to love and show love as we have had love shown to use by our Lord Christ Jesus.

So consider this a call to action and I’m not speaking of some huge grandiose gesture, start small. Some food or clothing to someone in need, an offer to help shoulder someone’s burdens (a lift, a phone call to check in), choosing to not talk behind someone’s back and if your feeling particularly brave even trying to counter the gossip on their behalf.

Like going to gym or learning a new skill. Charity, love and kindness are like muscles that need to be worked. Let them be and they’ll atrophy, but put them to work and I can say from experience it does get easier. Much Love x. #faith #love #god #christian #jesus taken in UK by @c.stack92

Forgive the essay but I feel compelled to write a little something for this special day. Im not going to force the faith down your throat or condemn or judge you, for having a different view. This is purely an invitation to look and learn about something / someone more. Someone who loves you so much they came and taught and blessed and finally suffered on the cross for you! If you were the only person on this earth he would have done it all just for you, that is how important you are to him. I make no secret of my faith, again not to force my beliefs or to look holier than thou (trust me I know I’m an idiot and can be a silly goose like everyone else). But I share this message because I know what he saved me from, who I used to be and the joy a relationship with him brings. So please at some point today just think at a point in time our Lord & Saviour, Jesus, came down and suffered pain and humiliation for you, for everyone. So for anyone who doesn’t really know Jesus I implore you to go and learn, listen and ask questions. For those who are already followers, let’s use today to serve him and meditate on him. As a side note a recommendation for some good reads, many of @cslewis_official Christian works are fantastic, ive read two of his books so far “How to be a Christian” & “Mere Christianity” which are brilliant. Recently finished this amazing book by @lee_strobel #thecaseforchrist An interesting read from a sceptical and scientific view point. All done via logic and evidence. A faith in God is not just a blind faith but for me and many, many others a faith built upon Historical, Geographical & Scientific evidence. I implore you to give this a read or listen (as I did) and hopefully this will at least give you some good for thought on a question that has eternal ramifications. #faith #reading #jesus #god taken in UK by @c.stack92

Thought with a little down time I’d do a quick sample of the @behringer ‘Meatball’ pedal. I adore this unit because it can do all the weird and wonderful sounds and still be useable. Fantastic effort by @darkglasselectronics @cognate.audio and overtone. Proper smashing it with the market place. The chorus and phasers blocks here are fantastic and really add a whole new flavour to the #anagram - multi effects and modellers aren’t new but this thing is so damn handy and portable and has looked after me wherever I’ve been in the world.
