Today, my baby should have been 2 months and 10 days old (she was born earlier, I was induced). Today, I was supposed to go back to work.
To be performant again. Efficient. Focused.
As if nothing had happened.

How did we get to a world that glorifies returning to performance instead of rest? A world that doesn’t even let us be mothers, to take the time to connect with our baby, to get to know each other, to create a safe, gentle, trusting space.

We’re told to move on, to act as if nothing happened,
even though we’ve just lived through the most physical, intimate, powerful experience. We live in a world that celebrates productivity, not the creation of life.

We’re expected to adapt, to keep the same rhythm as before but that “before” no longer exists. So I’m learning to embrace this new beautiful rhythm, yet sometimes difficult.

I’m still navigating the discovery of this new role of being a mother, while remaining myself, as an individual and a partner; between feedings, tears, smiles, fatigue, doubts, and this infinite love.

Because all of this: reinventing, loving, learning, adapting...is real work.
