A mature disciple doesn’t just ask, “What does the Bible say?” They ask, “Am I willing to do what it says even when it corrects me?”

Jesus encountered people who knew Scripture incredibly well. They could study it, debate it, memorize it, quote it, and even teach it. But they refused to let Scripture correct them.

The Greek word ‘dechomai’ means to receive, welcome, accept, take to oneself. It’s more than hearing the Word. It’s allowing the Word to confront you and have authority over you.

When it comforts me → I believe it.
When it corrects me → I submit.
When it exposes sin → I repent.
When it commands me → I obey.
When it challenges my assumptions → I let Scripture correct me.

Even when it confronts my preferences, emotions, upbringing, culture, or even modern Christian culture - I surrender.

You don’t just receive the Word when you agree with it. You receive it when you’re willing to be changed by it.

We are a house of prayer.

Next Tuesday, we’re starting “Partners with God” - an 11 week prayer course hosted by two prayer warriors of our house, Gary + Cecily Feldman.

This isn’t simply a study about prayer. It’s an opportunity to grow as an intercessor and to learn what it means to surrender more deeply, recognize the Holy Spirit’s leading, and align our hearts with God’s heart for people and the nations.

“My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” - Isaiah 56:7

Prayer changes more than circumstances. It changes us.
