OCPSC Year 4: A big part of our office has been learning through Community Connections and Convenings. These gatherings provide a space for community-based organizations, elected officials, state agencies, philanthropy partners, and community members to connect and expand collaboration. While these specific gatherings might be coming to an end, we are confident that the connections made will continue to strengthen communities across California.

OCPSC Year 4: This last year we navigated some big changes, but the work continued! In just over 5 months, our cohort of 50 CBOs helped 42,000 kids claim their CalKIDS scholarships, totaling over $27 million! Together, we continue to make an impact for Californians.

OCPSC Year 3: Spotlighting Ethnic and Community Media 🎥📰

Assembly Bill 1511 (Santiago) formally established the Office’s role in ensuring that state agencies and departments are reaching California’s diverse and underserved communities through ethnic and community media. Throughout the year, OCPSC held 13 ethnic media forums and briefings, engaging 329 outlets and 719 journalists to ensure that ALL California's communities received hyper-local and culturally relevant information.

OCPSC Year 3: Year 3 proved to be our biggest yet with 195 funded CBO partners spreading awareness about the amazing resources that California has to offer. We saw the creation of the California Community Resource Guide and increased partnership with state agencies to reach all Californians with actionable information. 💪

OCPSC Year 2: The trusted messenger network showed the power of community, reaching their neighbors in 34 languages with 365 community events. We conducted listening sessions, community connections, inclusion trainings, and learning labs to learn from one another and share best practices for outreach.

OCPSC Year 2: Climate was the theme with the Save our Water and Heat Ready CA campaigns. Hotter, drier weather created extreme drought and more extreme heat events. These campaigns reminded us that small actions make a difference, from choosing native plants to staying hydrated and checking in on our neighbors.

OCPSC Year 1: Our very first Trusted Messenger Network of 121 CBOs reached over 22 million people with their outreach about COVID-19 vaccines, extreme heat, and water conservation.
