November is national epilepsy awareness month. Many people including myself live daily with many different types of epilepsy. I was diagnosed at a very young age and was having almost two hundred seizures a day. Being that young and not being able to understand why I was the way that I was ended up being very hard for me. I could never quite understand why I couldn’t do what all of the other kids my age could do but I managed to always keep a smile on my face. As I am now 15 years old and I understand my epilepsy I always like to make this post in November to share my story and to help other people of any age with any type of epilepsy feel understood. Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders, affecting people of all ages. There are roughly 470,000 children living with epilepsy in the United States alone. People with epilepsy and seizures experience multiple daily challenges, such mood changes, sleep, thinking and memory issues, social and financial concerns. Judgement, and lack of information about the condition can also create more obstacles for members of the epilepsy community. NEAM is an entire month dedicated to uplifting individuals living with the epilepsies and educating the public on what it means to experience seizures. It is okay to embrace your differences. Embrace what makes you, you and be proud of that. You are perfect and you are loved.💜💜 by @ca_abby.legault
