We are excited to announce our first CABIN Residency Open House hosted in Potsdam, New York over the weekend of August 7-9.

The weekend celebrates the closing of our summer residency session, featuring an exhibition of works by the 23 artists who have been living and working with us in Potsdam over the past two months as well as open studios, nature walks and a seated dinner and closing party.

We hope this weekend offers an opportunity to see our campus and discover our plans for the future. If you’d like to join us, please contact Lawrence@cabinberlin.com for the full program, accommodation details, and further information. taken in Potsdam, New York by @cabin.ny

Jonathan Joosten during his Spring Residency.

Jonathan Joosten (b. 2002, Germany) is a German-Dutch artist living and working between Berlin and New York City. His artistic practice can be read as resistance to chrononormativity, to the linear structuring of time Joosten works with residual or fragmented materials: industrial
prototypes, discarded architectural elements, forms that have become obsolete. These are materials that have fallen out of their temporal grid, not yet waste, no longer functional, but caught in a state of limbo. Instead of imposing a logic of progress or completion on these objects, the artist emphasizes incompleteness, delay, and repetition. Joosten’s works suggest an ongoing becoming, a refusal to settle into past or future, memory, or vision. He thus creates a space for a temporal drag — a reverberation of the past in the present. Joosten collects the unclaimed, the half-forgotten, the speculatively remaining. We find ourselves in the archive of the not-yet. taken in Potsdam, New York by @cabin.ny

We are excited to welcome Jonathan Tignor as part of our summer residency cohort staying with us until August 15.

Jonathan Tignor (b. 1997) views painting as a means of exploring the images upon which a contemporary-yet-mythical sense of identity is built. He is interested in the gaps between real and imagined — how the real becomes imagined, and vice-versa. In rendering these images, Tignor looks for material resistance between paint and surface in order to introduce a formal tension and moments of unexpected encounter. The resulting visual narratives aim beyond an immediate and self-referential experience, and instead to a slow and contemplative way of seeing.

Jonathan Tignor is originally from Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Colorado College with a BA in Creative Writing and completed a Post-Baccalaureate in Studio Art at the Burren College of Art in Ireland. Most recently, he earned an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in London in 2024. Tignor has shown with OHSH Projects, Chilli Arts, and Twilight Contemporary in London, as well as with Bonian Space in We are excited to welcome Jonathan Tignor as part of our summer residency cohort staying with us until August 15. taken in Potsdam, New York by @cabin.ny
