OMG I spy a @buildfreedomus billboard on I-45!

The Build Freedom Summit is coming to Galveston next month!

It’s going to be a great event, and on the third day, companies involved in manufacturing can set up a booth at the career fair for free.

I hear from friends in machine shops every week about how badly they need good people. This will be an awesome opportunity for manufacturers to connect with young people getting ready to enter the workforce, and for students to see the opportunities that are out there waiting for them.

Individuals can register at a discount with the code HFO25 and if youre with a company wanting to setup a booth you can register for a discount booth rate with the code MFG50.

This August marked 10 years since I started teaching.

Over the past decade, I’ve spent most of my time teaching engineering design, CADCAM, and CNC machining. Looking back, there are two takeaways that stand out above everything else:

1. People learn best when they’re engaged.

Whether a student is 10 years old or 40, the challenge is similar: How do we get people engaged and give them purpose and confidence to apply that knowledge.

2. Design and manufacturing are the means, not the end.

I love designing and making things. I love standing in front of a CNC machine and watching a piece of material become something useful.

But ultimately, it’s not about the part. It’s about the purpose behind the part and the mission it fulfills. And right now, that mission has never been more important.

America’s ability to innovate, defend, and compete depends on one thing above all: skilled people who know how to make things.

Rebuilding and revitalizing our defense industrial base will take more than machines, buildings, or funding. It will take people!
Industry, educators, workforce professionals, and mentors all working together to develop the next generation of skilled talent.

I’m incredibly grateful for the mentors who invested their time and knowledge in me and have been blessed with opportunities to pass on those skills and that knowledge. I’ve made it my personal mission to pay that investment forward by helping build the next generation of manufacturing talent.

That’s why I’m excited to be part of the Build Freedom Summit, October 20–22 in Galveston, Texas.

The 4motion has its legs back under it and drove me to the office for the first time in almost 3 years!

I still have several things to work out on it but it runs, drives, stops, and even has valid registration LOL.

Laser training at an undisclosed location with a @haas_automation HL-50EXT.

I really like how these are all enclosed and complete with everything needed. It took less than an hour to set it up and we were laser marking parts in no time!

Haas Automation is building a 2.4 million square foot factory in Henderson, one of the largest manufacturing expansions in the industry. The same name behind the Haas F1 Team.

They're hiring now operators, machinists, engineers, assemblers and support roles and they want to meet you in person.
