(Tag your barber)

People outside of our community sometimes see a barbershop as a place to get a haircut. Black men know it’s often so much more than that.

It’s one of those rare spaces where conversations happen naturally. Where disagreements don’t always end relationships. Where somebody notices when you’ve been quiet. Where advice gets passed around and down generations along with sports takes.

Over the last two years, @caddywomack has become much more than my barber. (Though he’s been my barber for about 8 years)

He’s been a friend, a confidant, a sounding board, a therapist, and sometimes a pastor without ever standing behind a pulpit.

Looking back, I realize some of my best conversations haven’t happened over dinner or in meetings. They happened in a barber’s chair.

Thank you, @caddywomack for creating a space that feels like more than a business. Thank you for showing up for your community in ways that don’t get talked about enough.

Thank you to the Black barbers who do so much more than cut hair. Your value is immeasurable
