Dear Dad,
It’s been 5 years and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about you. As time has gone on I have learned to appreciate you more and more. Today you are more my hero than you ever were, and I suspect that will continue to be as years go on. I still catch myself waiting by the front door hoping you will walk in and I can give u a big hug again. You were a friend, a coach, a mentor, a brother, a son, but what I’m most proud of is I got to call you Dad. You lit up every room you were in. I push myself everyday to make you proud. You were my favorite shoulder to cry on but also my biggest critic. It hurts knowing you’ll never be one phone call or text away anymore. It hurts knowing I can’t go to you in times of need. I will forever cherish holding your hand one last time before you left. I will continue to protect our family and love them just as much as you did. Man, already 1 year without you. First off I just wanna say thank you for watching over me and the family and all my friends and keeping them safe and healthy this past year. A day never goes by where I don’t think abt our crazy memories we made together. I promise I will cherish every single one of them. So many sleepless nights. So many tears. I know you will forever protect me and the family and all my best friends. It still doesn’t even feel real. Some days I still wait for you to walk in the door. Everyone misses you so much dad. You touched so many peoples lives and I aspire to be exactly like you. You were the definition of a role model. But most of all, your favorite word ever, a “G.O.A.T”. I’ll see you again someday.
