TOMATO SEASON RETURNS TO CAFE MONDO! 🍅🍅🍅The best tomatoes in the world are grown in the south of France! Have you seen the sun over there! Sorry, British tomatoes! We like it FRENCH - and it keeps the lorry drivers in work! For the next couple of months they’re in their prime and we are doing up our favourite sandwich of the year THE BLTSay it with me now online foodies of a certain age THE BLT IS A TOMATO SANDWICH!This year we’re gussying ours up with a smoky house made Salami XO - we finely dice through the ends of our salamis, render down the fat until the bits are crispy, fry off garlic/onion/sunflower seeds/sesame seeds & plenty more, stir through crumbled crispy bacon, let everything combine until it’s smoky and jammy and crispy and the oil is all deep red. It’s somewhere between an XO and a chilli crisp I guess. No shellfish! ANYWAY the “cured meat nub condiment” ENHANCES the natural crispy smokiness of our excellent thick cut streaky bacon as well as getting in all the cracks and crevices of our beautiful heavily seasoned and marinated tomatoes - we normally get in a variety of colours - and the whole thing is cooled down by a big pile of iceberg and some ranch. That’s coming out in toasted tin loaf. Every year when I write the tomato post it ends up quite serious and that’s because WE TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!AVAILABLE - @cafe_mondo_se5 - FRI/SAT/SUN (that means today!) and for the next few weeks! by @cafe_mondo_se5

Expect:- delicious @flockandherd steak cooked to perfection (it’s medium rare) / OR! OVEN PIZZA RETURNS! 16TH JULY! THATS IN ONE WEEK!Not content with only running a poorly ventilated pizza popup during London’s PREVIOUS heatwave we thought we’d squeeze one in THIS time round too!As ever - proudly bubbly airy golden squares with toppings that REFUSE categorisation - ‘here’s mud in your eye, Italy!’ ‘take a hike, Italian-American diaspora!’ ‘Quit trying to pin us down, London’s ferocious listicle culture!’ We have yet to appear in any listicles! GOOD actually!Sicilian, Detroit, Grandma - we just call it OVEN PIZZA!Whole new web shop rig this time around after we got shut down by Eventbrite for using their platform irregularly and selling tickets for £0 to avoid their commission fees and pass the savings on to YOU, OUR NOBLE CUSTOMERSSo we’ve gone and made our own shop - link in bio - where you can select your timeslot and then choose your pie. We can only do 8 pizzas every half hour so get clicking! Last few times these have sold out within 24 hours! THE HARISSA AUB RETURNS!Sharp eyed fans of Mondo will have seen these across menus at all 3 sites the last few weeks - I’ve only just taken any good photos.
