We’re incredibly honoured to say we’ve been nominated for 2 categories in this year’s Manchester Food & Drink Awards. One of those being cafe of the year and the other newcomer of the year.

With being open for just 7 months, this is a surreal moment for me. I’ve been a chef in spots across Manchester for the last 6-7 years, working my way up to maybe one day having a space of my own. Then to see that space come to life, to be welcomed in, and not just welcomed in but loved, and now to be recognised, well that’s just pretty spectacular.

Growing up, my grandma was a professional chef my whole childhood, and food was what brought us together as a family, around the table, stories told and shared, new friends welcomed, and nobody was ever a stranger. I’m filled with so much pride that I’ve been able to bring a little piece of that to Convene.

I couldn’t be more proud of the team we’re slowly building, or more grateful to all of you for coming through our door each week. Being your neighbourhood cafe is the biggest pleasure.

This month’s guest roaster on batch brew: @taithcoffee.
Big fans and we’re very happy to have them on.

Two coffees to try: Finca Gascon, a black honey from Guatemala, and Kamavindi, a fruit-forward natural from Kenya.

A new roaster every month, from near and far. Limited numbers of retail bags available on our shelves. by @cafeconvene

a little recap from our Balkan Bible supper club a couple of weeks back. Incredibly proud of how the evening ran, the produce we got ahold of and the dishes we sent out. Stock Party 2026, wow what a wild ride!

The first edition of our Balkan Bible was brought to Stockport and we couldn’t be happier or more proud with how things went. Selling out in 2.5 hours was just insane, and we can’t wait to keep bringing you more of this, the same energy, the same consistency.

A massive thank you to everyone who came out to support and to all of our incredible suppliers who allowed us to create some really beautiful things, to our staff and of course, last but not least to my grandparents, for showing me how it’s really done and for giving me the foundations to do just that.

It was a real pleasure and an honour to bring a little piece of the Balkans to SK1, so shall we do it again very soon? by @cafeconvene
