Feeling extra grateful today as the year draws to an end for those who lead with both heart and heat. 🙏🧡 Michael Rodriguez, a/k/a DJ Mykol our Partner + Head of Market for San Diego, and one of the earliest creators of what Cage + Aquarium has become. Michael’s love for DJing was sparked at a skating rink in the early 2000s, where music wasn’t background, it was everything. It set the pace. It moved the room. And from that moment on, he knew he wanted to be the one behind the booth. Michael started spinning professionally in 2005, and over the next two decades, he didn’t just master the mix, he mastered the craft. In Chicago, he became known as one of the mist in-demand DJs for weddings in the city, beloved for his kindness, his unmatched energy, and his rare ability to move a dance floor with both now and always. His sets are never hype. They are emotional. Personal. Real. Michael joined Cage + Aquarium in 2016, drawn to the spirit of community and craft. He saw a place where his passion could grow alongside a team of artists who care just as deeply as he does. What followed was a career marked by connection event after event, memory after memory, built with intention and joy. Now based in San Diego, Michael is leading the charge in Southern California, bringing C+A’s signature energy to the coast. From rooftop parties to desert weddings to oceanfront celebrations, he’s helping build a new standard for what a modern media experience can be—one filled with soul, story, and sound. And, he’s bringing his signature heart and compassion to the community of SoCal where he was nominated by Big Brothers and Big Sisters for the Big + Little of the Year award for “Operation Bigs” in San Diego. ✨🤌 Why he’s here:
“I joined C+A because I believed in what we were building. A creative family. A brand with heart. A place where the music matters and the moments do too. After all these years, I still light up when the dance floor fills. Moving people with music, that’s the magic.” Michael is not just a DJ. He is a cultural translator. A leader who cares. And we are endlessly lucky that he is the heart and soul of this team. Thank you Michael! Let’s go 2026!! 💥 by @cageandaquarium

We’re endlessly grateful for the artists who make Cage + Aquarium more than just a company. 🧡💥🙏
Today, we welcome Fubz to Cage + Aquarium as our Head of Talent. This isn’t just a title. It’s a calling.
A devotion to the work.
A commitment to creative integrity.
A responsibility to uphold the standards that define who we are and who we’re becoming. Before joining Cage + Aquarium, Fubz was already a cornerstone of New York’s creative renaissance.
He was there when music, street art, fine art, and underground culture collided to form something transcendent. He helped launch the Red Bull Music Academy and served as the owner/publisher of Beautiful/Decay, an art magazine that honored emerging artists with the same gravity given to the canon. He founded his own record label, created platforms that elevated new voices, and captured a movement as it unfolded. And, as a photographer, he has shot some of culture’s most iconic figures like Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, Mob Deep, Alchemist, the RZA, and more. Fubz possesses a rare kind of vision. A highly tuned instinct for talent that spans music, photography, and film. He recognizes the artists who are not only technically exceptional, but emotionally resonant; those whose work leaves a mark and tells the truth. Why he joined Cage + Aquarium:
“I saw something real here. Something unrushed, grounded, and generous. A space where artists could show up fully and still be held to the highest standard. That’s rare. I want to be part of that.” Fubz isn’t here to fill a roster. He’s here to find the artists who shape culture. The ones whose presence transforms a room. The ones who make the ordinary, iconic. Welcome, Fubz. We’re honored to have you and all of our crew on the team! ✨🙏✨👏 by @cageandaquarium

Today, we’re shouting out our teammate who brings soul and service to everything we do. 🧡✨🤌
Scott Schaefer, our Head of Market for Chicago. Scott first joined Cage + Aquarium as a DJ back in the early days, spinning for six years while building a music career that spans three decades. In January 2024, he returned and quickly became a driving force in how we grow, lead, and serve our flagship Chicago community. Before rejoining Cage + Aquarium, Scott brought his creative leadership to some of the most respected names in music and hospitality.
Scott spent 14 years as Label Manager at Bloodshot Records, helping shape the careers of independent artists with the kind of care and instinct that defines true artist development.
He then spent 9 years as Director of Special Events at The Resort at Paws Up, where he led unforgettable music, culinary, and fine art experiences alongside celebrities, influencers, and James Beard Award-winning chefs.
He is also a singer-songwriter of 30 years, and a deep believer in the power of story, sound, and human connection. Why he returned to C+A:
“This company has always felt like home. It’s ambitious, it’s generous, and it’s rooted in community. I’ve worked in a lot of places where the work was exciting but the culture wasn’t quite right. C+A brings both—creative energy and real connection. That’s rare.” As Head of Market for Chicago, Scott is leading the way from the heart of downtown to the surrounding suburbs and up toward Milwaukee.
He’s committed to building lasting partnerships, supporting our artists, and making sure every experience we deliver feels as personal as it is powerful. There’s a mural outside Delilah’s in Chicago with a quote from Joe Strummer that Scott often returns to: “Without people, you’re nothing.” That’s not just a belief. It’s how he leads. We’re so grateful for Scott and our entire Chicago crew!!✨🙏 by @cageandaquarium
