Following the success and popularity of last year’s O’Connell 250 Liberator Flotilla, we’re bringing it back!

What started as one of the smaller events in the Daniel O’Connell 250 three-day programme, proved to be a real favourite with over 40 boats taking to the water at Cahersiveen Marina to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Daniel O’Connell. So, a few volunteers have got together to organise doing it all over again, and hopefully begin a new annual tradition each August for Cahersiveen and create something that can live on.

Join us at Cahersiveen Marina from 4:30pm this Sunday 30th August for a flotilla parade led by ‘The Liberator’ boat, as we mark 251 years since the birth of one of Cahersiveen’s most famous sons.

If you have a boat and would like to take part in the flotilla, you’re very welcome to join in. Please speak with Kieran and the team at the marina. Otherwise, come down early evening, find a good viewing spot and enjoy the spectacle from shore. It’ll be a great one to watch and something we hope to build on year after year.

Despite the rain, the spirit of the Cahersiveen Music & Arts Festival couldn't be dampened! 💪🚜🌧️

Our incredible women and men dug deep and pulled with everything they had in today's Tractor Pull, putting on a fantastic display of strength, determination and good humour. The crowds gathered in great numbers, cheering every pull and proving once again that a little rain won't stop this community from having a great time!

As we head into the final evening of this year's festival, let's finish in style and go out with a bang! 🎶🎉

The weekend is fast approaching, and we can't wait to be part of one of the most historic and vibrant community festivals on the Iveragh Peninsula.

The Cahersiveen Music & Arts Festival has always been about bringing people together through music, creativity, culture and community spirit, and this year's festival promises another fantastic weekend packed with entertainment for all ages.

A huge congratulations to the Mike Murphy memorial cycle club on finally achieving a dream more than a decade in the making — the creation and erection of a permanent statue in honour of the late, great “Iron Man” Mick Murphy.

This is a remarkable achievement and a fitting tribute to one of Cahersiveen’s most extraordinary characters. Mick Murphy’s strength, determination, individuality and incredible sporting legacy have never been forgotten, and this magnificent statue will ensure his story remains part of the town for generations to come.

The beautiful bronze sculpture was created by the hugely talented artist Mark Rode, whose craftsmanship and attention to detail have captured the power, spirit and character of the legendary Rás Tailteann champion. What an artist, and what an exceptional piece of work.

Congratulations also to everyone else who played a part in bringing this project to life — those who fundraised, supported, organised and worked behind the scenes throughout the years. A project of this scale takes enormous commitment, patience and belief, and everyone involved should be immensely proud.
