Food in Iceland 🇮🇸🍔🍣

There was mixed reviews when I was doing my research on what Icelandic food would be like. And I’ll be honest, with the budget we were traveling on, we didn’t really get a “high-end” experience that would incorporate the delicacies of Iceland.

🐟More Fish and Chips from @reykjavikfish which were our favorite of the trip
🍤Fish and Shrimp tacos from @grandimatholl which were delectable.
🍣Sushi at @sushisocialreykjavik - the smoked salmon nigiri was to die for!
🍲Soup flight from @thesoupcompanyiceland where you can choose 3 kinds of soup, pick your favorite, and get a second helping for free! I couldn’t eat anymore so I missed my chance.
🐠 More fish and chips in Vik
🍩 Delicious pastries that saved us after a long travel day from #deigbakery
🍔We ate lots of burger and fried chicken sandwiches from @lekockyourself which were INSANELY delicious.
🍕The iconic Black Crust Pizza @blackcrustpizzeria
🥩Beef Tenderloin and Atlantic Cod from @fjallkonan.rvk for our Anniversary dinner. We loved the vibe of this place

We had a great dining experience and no puffins were harmed during our visit!

🇮🇸Iceland 2026🇮🇸

🧊Iceland was unreal. We bought tickets off an @icelandair Instagram ad (of course) in November and planned for our trip in March. Despite what some say, we had great weather, clear skies, 12 hours of sunlight and got to see the Northern Lights. But yes, very windy.

🌌 Rented a car and drove down the coast to #víkímýrdal and stayed @hotelkria - the best hotel with a perfect back porch to sit in our snow pants and watch the Northern Lights.

🌋We went on a tour with @katlatrack to the Blue Ice Caves in a Volcano on the Glacier!! Of course tried the @thesoupcompanyiceland and #blackcrustpizza

🏞️ Drove from Vik back to Reykjavik along the #GoldenCircle - I will say this was very touristy but everyone said it was a must do. Our favorite part was finding random hidden parts of nature that people weren’t at along the way. Also, the #ThingvellirNationalPark was incredible. We got there at 6pm when everyone was GONE so we had the whole place to ourselves. It was sooo calm and serene.

🛁 Lots of debate on the lagoons but we did @bluelagoonis (do this right when you land before the tours get in) and @skylagooniceland which was one of my favorite experiences of the trip.

🎹Spent the rest of our trip in #reyjkavik shopping and eating and loving the music scene. There’s live music everywhere!! We also ate a lot of fish and chips and burgers.

Wish I Knew:
🅿️ At most tourist sites you have to pay for parking. Get the Parka app
⚠️ There are speed cameras all over the island capturing your license plate!!
💰 1000 Kr. is about $8 USD. No cash needed.
🚙 Enterprise won’t rent a 4WD car to someone under 25y/o, but AVIS will!
