We lost my grandfather on October 12, 2024. I didn’t have the words then, but I do now.

My grandfather did not know what Instagram was, but if I had explained it to him, I think he would’ve really enjoyed the boomerang feature on his golf swing.

I learned so much from him, but what really sticks out is the way he showed his love through action. Always there for his people- an ever steady presence. Every game, birthday, holiday, school drop off, grandparents day, pool party, recital, dinner. His commitment to my family showed me from a young age what love truly meant.

He also made me memorize all of the state capitals so there’s that.

I wish I could’ve told him thank you just one more time.

But I can say thank you now to my network of friends and family who showed up for me before, during, after this loss. It meant everything. His celebration of life was a day that I was dreading- but because of the support I had, it ended up being a day I am able to treasure.

So much more to say but he was an impatient man so

Feeling a lot of feelings leaving 2833 N Cambridge. First solo apartment - longest I have lived anywhere since I was 17. Killed a lot of spiders because no one else was there to do it for me. Bought my first couch. First tv. Played a lot of loud music. I loved the quiet mornings and late nights.
