CAIR-CA CEO @hussam.ayloush was recently targeted with online death threats on the public X account of John Guandolo, a known anti-Muslim extremist and former FBI agent. Guandolo has previously made many bizarre and Islamophobic statements, including tweeting that “CAIR needs to be obliterated.”

CAIR-CA is treating the statement as a serious threat and has notified the appropriate authorities.

[Update: On Wednesday, July 22, despite strong community opposition, Costa Mesa City Council members voted 6–1 to keep the city’s contract with Flock until it expires in April 2027, when they plan to renegotiate certain terms and clean up specific contract language.]

Call for Public Comment: Tell the City Council To DeFlock Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa could be the first city in Orange County to end its contract with Flock Safety, joining several cities and police departments across California that are ending their ties with the surveillance technology company and suspending the use of its automated license plate reader cameras in response to growing public pressure and privacy concerns.

Join local immigrants’ rights groups in person to call on the @cityofcostamesa City Council to vote to cancel the city’s contract with Flock and stop mass surveillance in Costa Mesa.

You do not have to be a resident to make a public comment. If you work, shop, commute, or go to school in Costa Mesa, you are part of the community and can help keep it safe!

A record number of representatives, including 21 from California, recently voted to end U.S. funding for Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza and war crimes across the region.

Although the amendment ultimately failed to pass in a 104–314 vote, this is a significant moment. Lawmakers are finally catching up to the overwhelming majority of the American public who oppose unconditional military funding for the Israeli government.

We commend the following California elected officials for their principled vote opposing an additional $3.3 billion in funding for Israel: @repbarragan, @repbrownley, @repcarbajal, @repjudychu, @repdesaulnier, @replaurafriedman, @repgaramendi, @robertgarcialb, @repjoshharder, @repsarajacobs, @rep_kamlagerdove, @reprokhanna, @repzoelofgren, @repdorismatsui, @repdavemin, @repkevinmullin, @speakerpelosi, @replsimon, @repmarktakano, @repderektran, and @repmaxinewaters.

CAIR-CA continues to urge all elected officials to take a public stance against U.S. complicity in genocide. by @cairgla

We joined CHIRLA, immigrants rights organizations, workers, and members of the movement for justice this morning to demand accountability, transparency, and an independent investigation into the killings of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, Texas, and Joan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine.

Our community is grieving, and as Khalid Hudson of CAIR-LA quoted this morning, in the words of the Quran, "Whoever takes a life—it will be as if they killed all of humanity."

Our prayers and solidarity are with the families of these men, and the many more community members that have been taken from us by this state-sanctioned violence. In their names, we will not give up the fight for justice.

FIFA gave the world a tool to stop racism on the pitch. When it was used in Atlanta, it went ignored.

After one of the most controversial matches of this World Cup, we’re calling on FIFA to do what its own policy requires: investigate Hossam Hassan’s gesture and explain, publicly, why the protocol was never triggered.

Silence isn’t neutral. It’s a choice.
