Mike ditka was one of our best tight ends in the whole entire world. Also known as iron Mike he was the first tight end in the NFL history to record over 1000 receiving yards in a rookie season earning UPI NFL rookie of the year honors. he was inducted into the college football Hall of Fame in 1986 and the pro football Hall of Fame in 1988. after being selected by the Bears with the fifth overall pick in the 1961 draft out of the University of Pittsburgh he spent the first six of 12 NFL seasons in Chicago and during his rookie season caught 56 passes for 1076 yards and 12 touchdowns in 1961.

His integral role at bringing world champions to Chicago both as a player and as a coach established his prominence and excellence at a world class level, but also created a lifetime of cherished moments in the hearts and minds of bears fans that will last for generations. my heart goes out to Mike ditka’s family at this time.

Mike ditka was more than a player, he was a just, jovial and larger-than-life man with great skills. by @cait7g
