Some summertime scenes.

Grateful for a summer that absolutely filled my cup back up. For time spent with phenomenal humans, a little time back home, road trips, sleeping in, some couch rotting with the pup, soaking up every possible second my soul could get on a beach, and, of course, running. A summer that gave me exactly what I needed and more than I could have asked for.

Believe in the Megs. A mantra of mine while training for LA.

When the self-doubt got loud and belief in myself was lacking, I could always turn to my belief in, respect for, and admiration of these two. @meaghanjmurray and @featherstonenutrition dreamed up what became LA100, spent years championing the concept, and thanks to @asics, finally got to bring it to life beyond anyone’s imagination.

The friendships, community, knowledge, and for me, how it changed the way I show up for myself in running and in life, have lasted long after race day. It was such a privilege to try to put into words, in person, just how meaningful the experience was and how grateful we all are to them and to ASICS for making it possible.

And the absolute cherry on top? Getting to spend the weekend making more memories and sharing so much laughter with some of the incredible women who make up LA100. Being together at another start line (thanks again to the Megs and ASICS!!) brought back so much joy. The @falmouthroadrace was incredible! So much fun, a stunning course, and an amazing show of community support.

Boats and shows. Even more boats and the O’s. June was a great one!

Global Running Day (followed by a completely reasonable number of post-run beers), the Baltimore 10 Miler and return of First Thursdays (aka the unofficial start of summer). As always, miles with some of the best people around. And fleet week!!

June also brought a bestie’s baby shower, plus countless hours spent laughing and catching up with new friends and old. Somehow I have approximately 47 pictures of boats, and exactly zero pictures of those moments. But some of the best memories are the ones I’m too busy making to capture any pictures of.

April was brutal. Grief sucks. I was so ready to be done with that month. But I’m also so incredibly grateful for the moments of joy, laughter and levity that were somehow still had through the heaviness. And for each person they were shared with. They meant more than you know.

Cherry Blossom weekend was amazing. Got to run around DC and hang out with @kel_sei the day before the race. Beyond thankful to LA100 for the opportunity to know, and get to call a friend, yet another absolute gem of a human. The perfect pre-race pep talk and feeling like Zo was right there with me the last few miles had me actually trying instead of giving up on myself. 6 min PR with a 1:19.

All the miles with the @believerunclub crew. From slow roast, to the usual Thursday’s, and hitting some of the fastest paces I have in a while with Adrian’s track Tuesday. Ya’ll are the best. Life always feels so much lighter in those miles.

Running with @athletesservingathletes has always been on my running bucket list. Getting to race Sole of the City with team Zach and helping him cross the finish line was incredible. And so much fun!

Volunteering for the McKim Center community games thanks to @erinkehs was so great. Hanging with those littles and watching them race brought so much joy.

Getting some much needed family time with my favorite people while watching B score the game-tying goal with less than a minute left. Just the best.

And eventually getting back into the gym to lift with a little reminder of the guy who was everyone’s endless supporter, coach and friend.

One of the brightest souls I’ve ever known. There is no other way to describe it. You lit up every space you entered just by being you. The immense joy you spread to others was equally matched by the warmth, love and support you shared so generously. The world is certainly a dimmer place without you in it. While we’re heartbroken, I know we’ll all try to carry that spark you left in each person who was blessed enough to know you. We’ll do our best to remember to find and spread joy as much as possible, to laugh and be silly, and that anytime is a good time for a little dance break.

Running is how I first got to experience that immense support you were so generous with. I’d sometimes stop into DiPasquales after a run. You’d always ask how my run went, how many miles I ran, what races I was training for, and were just so incredibly supportive and encouraging, all before you even knew me - long before my BFit days. That’s just the kind of person you were.

I’ll always cherish the memories and miles shared with you at Tribe after I told you Jenny Simpson was coming to town, who you and your infamous neon yellow shorts out-kicked at the finish of the Austin Half.

You’ll be so incredibly missed.

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. ✨

One last shout out to the women who helped make the journey to the starting line, the marathon itself, and the post race celebrations so much damn fun!

Whether it was a Strava kudos, Instagram message, or Slack chat, you all kept me going when I was pumped to get after the day’s run, but more importantly, on the days I wasn’t. Seeing you all crush your workouts, deal with crazy setbacks, and still keep the energy high, not only got me through the 16 weeks of training, but made it all so much more meaningful and fun.

The encouragement and support of race day was unmatched. Knowing you all were out there, no matter where on the course, gave me such motivation!

I will always be grateful that I just happened to hear @lifebyalexarae and @statesonoursoles race plan while literally at the starting line, which happened to align perfectly with my goals for the day. Thank you both for letting me join in on the fun with you! Those shared miles melted away and were an absolute blast!!
