The greatest gift I’ve ever been given is the title “sister.” Not just being one, but having one. The love of a sister is something human words cannot explain, but human hearts can feel through the entire body. It isn’t that we share a nose or have the same color eyes that makes the bond so strong— It’s the fact that she was, is, and always will be there through it all. The highs, the lows, and the grey areas I’ve spent way too much time trying to dissect— only for her to tell me to get out of my own head for a minute, drag me into the car, and force me to get coffee to reset. Even though, most of the time, it’s just an excuse for her to get a free one too.If I didn’t believe in soulmates before, having a sister has been the most irrefutable proof that they exist. I believe that even if we shared no DNA, we would still be destined to be in each other’s lives in some way. But I was lucky enough to have her in a forever way—to never have to live a single significant moment without her in my corner.Even if we hate each other at times, we have never stopped loving each other—and we never will.She is the greatest gift I have ever been lucky enough to receive.
