~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The geometric shapes of architecture and the influence of botany are key to my work, blending together in my creative process. The starting point for an artwork is often something I have observed: a piece of music, a colour, a sensation or a memory. That little something then transforms and takes shape in my mind, like the mechanism of a clock — the inspiration behind my Clock series. Armed with my scalpels, my hand expresses itself by delicately cutting and peeling away the pulp of the paper, a bit like Edward Scissorhands. I like to work on series that resonate with each other. The textures of my work are created instinctively during the sculpting process and are never planned in advance. I like to maintain this spontaneity in the interplay of light and shadow that characterises my artistic work. #fineart #ateliercaitrina #papiersculpté #sculptedpaper #basrelief #sculpture #sculpturepapier #demarcheartistique #création #creatingprocess @carredartistes_official @carredartistesnl Photo courtesy @marionsaupin by @caitrin_alexandre

Cate xx ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My name is Caitrín Alexandre and I am a sculpted paper artist. I have been madly in love with Anglo-Saxon culture since the age of four. My Gaelic name is spelled with an accent on the second i. I started experimenting light and shadow at the age of 20, intending to add character to a paper lampshade that I had just made for my home. My artistic path was set! 🤍 Other pursuits then took me on a different path: as flower designer and as interior design, graduated. In my work, these two worlds, botany and architecture, express themselves, and sometimes even come together. My art is my light; without it, I wither away. Welcome to my world.
