an extremely sweet ending to a great trip, a sicilian cake party .. my time here was divine. food = nourishment food = community food is life and love !!!! And cake too. everything is cake. pic explanations if you are so inclined to read >
everyone’s custom cake + mine which was 6 layers of cornflour sponge in alternating layers of almond + chamomile whey soaks + pistachio smbc + candied petals + sage

not a cake post but im currently traveling in Sicily and had the privilege to make a traditional Sicilian lunch yesterday and it was so amazing .. feeling very grateful for real food, tradition, connecting with strangers turned friends + family over the table.. its all that matters, and this is why food is so important to me, not just pastry, although the cannolo we had were insane. learning a lot on this trip simplicity, quality, and intention actually matter more than anything when it comes to a meal and my brain hurts because it’s being rewired but in a good way . tradmaxxed too close to the sun ? Idk now i want to buy some land taken in Noto, Sicily by @cakephantasy

haven’t baked a real cake in a while so@i used my Spanish teachers birthday as an excuse to make one :P i miss my kitchenaid so fucking much .. took me an hour and a half to make Swiss meringue by hand iykyk

this year has been honestly strange for my baking and creativity in general, moving around from place to place and thinking about what the fuck I’m doing with my life .. earlier this year I spontaneously applied for pastry school in Barcelona and .. I got in .. so now I’m going in a couple days to a new country for all of 2026. Im honestly a bit scared. but fuck it! cakes have brought me here, and now I’m so curious about exploring everything and anything pastry related .. this year mentally wasn’t great for me and tbh I hit a sort of rock bottom but baking got me through it every single time .. god I fucking love pastry, and eating it, designing it, sharing it. Food is so sacred. I love you if you ate my cake or danishes or whatever the hell I was baking that week this year, I love you if you supported me this year, I love you ! Eat with ur eyes and hearts every day !!!
going to be a fun journey this year .. ermmmm it’s getting serious
and I’m starting a substack 🫦 cus I gotta believe someone will read my bad writing diary esque entries by @cakephantasy
