Today, I entered my Martha Stewart Era @marthastewart48. I hope to bring you more interviews with interesting and talented people that I have met in New York City. In Hudson Yards, I interviewed Floral Designer Caleb Kane @caleb.k.gardener. I first met Caleb at the @tanner.fletcher presentation last year. There is something very “Moon River, my huckleberry friend,” about his arrangements that makes them so enchanting. I met him at a fabulous duplex loft in Hudson Yards to film. This weekend marked one of the country’s finest antique shows, bringing together contemporary decorative arts, historical treasures, and museum-quality objects. What truly sets @e.hamptonantiquesdesignshow apart is its remarkable curation and the diversity of taste on display. There is genuinely something to captivate every collector.Beyond discovering exceptional pieces, the show is an endless source of inspiration. It’s a wonderful opportunity to speak with decorators, designers, and dealers about emerging trends, collecting insights, and, of course, to hear the occasional bit of wonderful gossip….There is always something new to learn.One of my favorite aspects is seeing how each dealer presents their booth. Every space feels like a beautifully finished room, each with its own distinct personality and point of view. Whether you leave with a treasured acquisition or simply a notebook full of ideas, it’s an event that should never be missed.As always, it was a pleasure to attend, and my sincere thanks to the @easthamptonartanddesigndays and the @easthamptonhistory for continuing to create such a special and inspiring event. by @caleb.k.gardener

With summer in full swing and the days stretching long into the evening, there is no better excuse to lose yourself in as many gardens as possible. Between the gentle weekend rain, the East End was looking better than ever, perfect sunsets, sand in my shoes, and, thankfully, not a tick in sight…..It is always a pleasure to visit @marshallwatsondesigner garden, generously opened through @thegardenconservancy. A true highlight of the Conservancy’s Open Days, it is a beautiful reminder of what can be achieved with a relatively modest footprint, provided one’s imagination knows no bounds.Elsewhere, rose season seems to have reached its glorious crescendo and is now beginning its slow, inevitable fade…. There is something bittersweet about watching them pass, a quiet reminder to stop and appreciate them while they are at their finest. (Stop and smell the roses!)All in all, I couldn’t be more grateful for these long summer days and every opportunity to spend them outdoors. 💐 by @caleb.k.gardener

A beautiful start to summer, filled with roses, friends, and of course, countless gardens. While the season has arrived with a touch more warmth than usual, it’s wonderful to see everything in full swing at last. A sneak peek inside the New York City apartment of designer, decorator, and consummate entertainer @carsonkressley.Carson’s home is a reflection of a life well lived. A thoughtful mix of modern comfort, personal collections, treasured photographs, and antiques gathered along the way. While many interiors strive to impress, this one succeeds in something far more difficult, it feels genuinely lived in.Entertaining is clearly at the heart of the apartment. Generous seating invites conversation, while a well-stocked library offers plenty to discover between cocktails and stories. More than an apartment, the space feels like a private clubhouse in the very best sense of the word.Though the palette leans heavily on greys, bronzes, and rich browns, nothing about the apartment feels dark or “heavy”. Instead, the colors create a sense of warmth and ease, setting the tone for a space that is both relaxed and welcoming.What makes Carson’s apartment so memorable isn’t simply the decoration, but the personality woven throughout. Every object seems to tell a story. Every photograph holds a memory. It is less an apartment than a treasure box filled with the chapters of Carson’s life.Perhaps that’s the real lesson to take away: the most successful homes are not those that follow trends, but those that reflect the people who live within them. by @caleb.k.gardener

With much anticipation, the release of “Madoo: The Making of an American Garden” has finally arrived. @madoogardens is a garden that stands apart from what many have come to expect of the Hamptons landscape. Bright greens, luminous yellows, and deep blues mingle with clipped hedges, long borders, and a carefully orchestrated sense of delightful disorder.To me, Madoo represents one of the last remnants of the bohemian spirit that once drew artists east in search of inspiration and that singular Hamptons light that seems to settle so beautifully across the landscape. It is a garden rooted as much in artistic expression as in horticulture, where planting compositions create near, surreal drifts of color and sculpted hedges provide structure and form.Among its many virtues, Madoo is also a place of education. It demonstrates that regardless of a garden’s size, an oasis can be created through imagination, thoughtful design, and a willingness to experiment. These photographs hardly do justice to a place that has filled me with an enthusiasm for creative gardening and offered a space to reflect on what I value most in a garden: beauty, tranquility, and a sense of leisure.Like all truly great gardens, Madoo is never finished. It continues to evolve, season after season, growing ever deeper into itself while remaining a place of wonder for those fortunate enough to know it. Spring always disappears a little too quickly. Just when the excitement of tulip season reaches its peak, the petals begin to fall before one has had the chance to admire even half of the extraordinary plantings. Still, there is something wonderfully optimistic about the shift into summer, the long evenings ahead, dinner outdoors, gardens beginning to soften and spill over, as they should at their best. And hopefully, if we are lucky, a few golden days untouched by rain. 🤞🏻💐 by @caleb.k.gardener

Over the weekend, @oldwestburygardens held its annual Gardeners’ Fair, a tradition that always feels like stepping into a place that remembers itself quite well. And what better way to celebrate than to look back at these early photos, showing little difference in the enjoyment one would find today. As if taken yesterday, one can see how this estate and garden continue to be loved by all who know it.What’s so striking, time and again, is how intact it all feels. The formality of the landscape, the scale of the estate, and the quiet rhythm of the gardens still carry the imprint of its stately home origins, when places like this were designed as private worlds of leisure, cultivation, and display. Now, of course, it belongs to the public, but it hasn’t lost that sense of care or composition, and most importantly, leisure!Often called “everyone’s country house,” it has become something rarer: a preserved estate that still feels lived in, season after season, with plantings maintained, views protected, and history quietly upheld.The Gardeners’ Fair supports exactly that. Funds raised go toward the ongoing preservation of the house and gardens, ensuring that what was once private remains not just intact, but actively tended and understood as a living landscape.This year’s fair also honored Bernadette Castro’s long legacy of leadership and preservation, alongside her public service. With Tom Samet and Terri Keogh co-hosting, the afternoon had that familiar Old Westbury feeling, part civic occasion, part garden social, part reminder of how much work it takes to make “effortless” beauty last for future generations to enjoy.Historic photos courtesy of New York Heritage, and the last two taken by me at the Gardeners’ Fair. by @caleb.k.gardener

Very few moments rival the quiet pleasure of mid to late April. Tulips reach their peak, layers of color and texture arranged with impeccable design in mind. While the trees unfurl in shades of fresh, almost impossibly vibrant green. The long sense of anticipation has finally eased, and the moment we’ve been waiting for is here. There’s something in the air, a gentle reminder of everything still to come…This, I think, is the season that makes you believe the grass truly might be greener on the other side. 💐 by @caleb.k.gardener
