Nature always finds new ways of leaving me speechless, and the show the northen lights put on last night was no exception. • • • #alaska #vanlife #optoutside #stayandwander #wildernessculture #welltraveled #aurora #projectvanlife by @caleb_jones_77
My one year anniversary of Jackson living! It sucks, tell your friends!! by @caleb_jones_77
22,000 miles later, I'm on my last leg of my Alaska trip as I pull into Dallas tonight. I've never planned a trip so loosely; my only plan being to get there and figure it out. Letting each day be an open-ended opportunity for adventure, I have found that no amount of planning could have given me a better experience. The day I found the ice cave, I had no idea what to expect. I was accompanied by two hitchhikers, one I'd met previously and the other we grabbed on the way and told us that we might find some ice caves if we looked hard enough. So we set out in the morning onto Kennecot Glacier without crampons or trekking poles with high hopes and very little preparation. After a little exploration and a surprisingly high amount of interactions with quick sand, we found a little hidden cave mouth off to the side of the glacier. We hiked down inside and all the stumbling and scraped up hands faded from our memory as we gazed upon the most beautiful and mysterious thing we had ever seen water do. There was no one else to be found, it was just us three unlikely friends having a unique experience in the largest national park in America. There's nothing better than making memories with others, and even though I set off alone (other than Kai of course) my life has been filled with wonderful people who I very easily could've never met. See everyday as an opportunity for adventure and you never know what might happen! • • • • #wildernessculture #optoutside #vanlife #agameoftones #stayandwander #rei1440project #alaska #getoutstayout #vanlifediaries #projectvanlife by @caleb_jones_77
