Last night at 7:05 pm, my best friends, Jake and Samantha Bingham, brought their firstborn son Ezra Joseph Dean Bingham into this world. It feels like just yesterday Sami and I were in pre-school playing on the playground at First United Methodist Church, getting me to come to karate lessons like two times before I gave up, watching Scooby-Doo movies, playing Harry Potter on the Gamecube, or playing dress up. It feels even more recent that Jake and I were becoming friends in 1st grade because I was being bullied, us roleplaying on the playground as the super heroes “JCBOYZ”, countless sleepovers, phone calls that consisted of asking each other to get on Roblox every day, which in our older ages turned into late nights hanging out whether it was in a Publix parking lot, going to the mountains, at our parent’s houses, playing way too much call of duty / WWE or driving anywhere we could find a road in Gaston County. Today is a day that felt like it could’ve never come because we were just kids. Jake and I have been together through every high and every low of each other’s lives including every girlfriend or crush, every personal issue at school or home, every issue with ourselves, and through everything, I genuinely feel blessed that he’s been by side for 16 years now. We have seen the best and the worst of each other, and knowing that I fully believe that Jake can and will be a great father, and Sami an amazing mother. You two have collectively been in my life essentially since I can remember, and that will never change. I will always be here for you no matter the circumstance, and I love you two.
