82 years ago, Ed Sandy was just 18 years old when he came to Omaha beach during the invasion of Normandy.

He was a gunner on LCF-3 —> a British landing craft converted into a gunboat and manned by U.S. crews. Ed provided fire support during the D-Day landings. After the invasion, his mission changed. He helped recover those who made the ultimate sacrifice, carrying fallen service members back to ships waiting offshore.

Now 100 years old, for the first time since D-Day, Ed returned to the beaches where his story began.

To stand again on these shores, to walk the ground where so much history unfolded, and to reflect on a chapter of his life that he carried with him for 82 years was an incredibly powerful and emotional moment.

It’s hard to fully express the gratitude I feel for the incredible veterans I had the honor of spending time with during this year’s D-Day program with the @bestdefensefoundation

To hear your stories, shake your hands, share moments, and simply be in your presence is a privilege I will never take for granted.

This post is dedicated to the veterans. You have set an example for the kind of person we all should strive to be and have taught me so much. I will never forget the memories we have shared and the bonds we have created. Thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and for allowing us to remember and carry your stories forward. After a year of preparation and waiting, today I leave for Air Force BMT. ✈️🇺🇸
So much has happened since I first raised my right hand and said the Oath of Enlistment, and whether it was challenges, growth, or lessons… I have deepened my respect for our nation and for our flag. I’ve come to deepen my understanding that the flag isn’t just fabric waving in the wind; it’s a living symbol of sacrifice, unity, and freedom.
The legacy of those who served before us is carried in those stars and stripes, and I’m honored to take my first steps in continuing that tradition.
I’m grateful for the @bestdefensefoundation @airdotshow @delta @lifeatdelta @donnie_edwards @katedwards8 @airnationalguard @petehegseth @secwar and for everyone else who has helped me get here. This is the true beginning of my service, and I couldn’t be prouder to stand behind the values this country represents.

Two men who witnessed some of the darkest chapters of history… and yet, decades later, still find joy in the simple things.

Cpl. Aubrey Blackwell, 187th Glider Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division, and SSgt. George K. Mullins, Co. C, 327th Glider Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division.

From gliders and jump wings to occupation duty and combat across Europe, their stories are a reminder that courage isn’t only found on the battlefield. Sometimes, it’s found in choosing to keep living, laughing, remembering, and seeing the good in humanity.

Grateful to programs like the NextGen that give opportunities for youth to sit with these men, hear their stories, and capture moments like this.

Happy National Aviation Day!✈️

I think it’s safe to say aviation has changed my life in ways I never could have imagined.

In just over two years, I’ve gone from mission aviation in Kenya with @africainlandmission.usa, to flight training in South Dakota @sdstateaviation, to enlisting in the Air Force, working at an airport with @aeroatlantaflightcenter, flying WWII veterans to Normandy with @delta and the @bestdefensefoundation, and now working with @airdotshow who recently helped celebrate 250 years of American with an incredible airshow over our nation’s capital.

I’m incredibly thankful for every opportunity, every person, and every place this journey has taken me… and most of all, for the passion the Lord has placed in my heart.

I truly have no idea where this path will take me next, but I’m grateful to be along for the flight. ✈️🇺🇸 by @calebwalker1944
