Our lil neon-soaked menace of a short film, B Side, has been nominated for a New York Independent Cinema Award.

Naturally, I’m diggin’ through old stills from early cuts + original conceptual art for the film’s poster + reminiscing about the tremendous amount of affection I will forever have for the beautiful lunatics who make things out of nothing.

I hope I’m cool at 60. Not in the egomaniacal manner but in that way a first responder checks the colour and suppleness of your skin and says, “she looks good…” you know? or in the way the off–ice medic checks for all your teeth halfway through the game + asks, “so, why was the goal to be a goalie, anyway?”

I want to maintain those signs of vitality; signs I’ve taken care of Self; signs I’ve tended to dreams and needs.

Really, I just hope I’m sleeping enough + that I have strong ankles. I’d like strong ankles.

A most charishable thing making this strange little film, B Side, gave me was @daveyoberlin’s music. 🎹⚡️

Years ago, I stumbled into an audio-only chatroom and heard this dreamy, dangerous little pocket of bubblegum synth-pop drifting through my headphones. I immediately thought: whoever made this understands something tender and electric about being alive.

Davey’s music became part of the bloodstream of B Side — neon-lit, achingly vibrant, bursting with beauty… through sound. The film simply would not be what it is without it.

bb’s first hat trick 🎩🎬

B Side’s all grown up + goin to New York 🌆🥂

the New York City Lift-Off Film Festival 2026, that is.

We’re officially part of the Trendsetter Shorts Programme, which means B Side gets to spend the next month hangin out alongside filmmakers from all over the world while audience votes and jury scores decide who advances to the Network Round Final (aka another opportunity for us to screen at Pinewood Studios in London, UK, where my lifelong fantasy of sipping shaken vespers whilst wandering through the birth-stages of Bond cinema continues to aggressively manifest itself 🍸).

Deeply grateful this film keeps finding people + thrilled it gets another home, another audience, another conversation… in NEW YORK, NEW YORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRK. 🎶

This is me lovingly placing my lil psychological gremlin into the world + asking: if you have a moment, I’d be ridiculously grateful if you watched and maybe even tossed us a vote (link in bio).

Plz also sound off once more for the absolute menace-to-normalcy group of artists who rallied around me and somehow turned this glitter-bomb of a short film into a real thing on real screens with real people watching it. I remain unreasonably delighted about it. 💫
