Pretty big last couple of weeks…….
Weekend before last I managed/help to run (along with the help from the epic team @skateboarding.nz ) the NZ Skateboarding Nationals here in the Mt. I reckon it was epic and (biased aside) the Vert on Sunday was the best skateboarding the Mt ramp has ever seen.
Fast forward to the following weekend and off to Taranaki for the annual Masters surf comp . We scored pumping waves, I managed to come second in the Masters division (50-55) to my travel buddy @ob_wetsuitrepairs, help the ‘Others’ tag team beat the local team, and also won the award for ‘Best Skuller’ in the Dunger Derby. Apparently I can skull a 🍺 faster than most, but not sure if it’s an award to be proud of😂. Anyway epic times and I am lucky @j9tolley allows me to keep living the dream!🤙🏼 taken in Blake Park by @caletolley

Another throwback, this time to Mar/April 2011 edition of NZ Surf Mag. Epic summer that one, especially Cyclone Wilma which served up pits like this. I remember that day, soo many epic tubes & I was lucky I got this screamer past @coryscottimagery who was shooting in the water at the time 🤙🏽 taken in Omokoroa by @caletolley

Yea getting older is tough, especially as an older skateboarder. I’m so glad that most of my life has been about skateboarding and even now it has kept me in the game, whether it be competing, running events or just skating with the homies. Last weekend was all 3 rolled into one, although it was more about the running events side of things and less about the skating and hanging with the homies. I have given up and retired several times, but it is my blood and I don’t know if I could stop even if I tried. I may have just turned 49 but I think I still have a few good years left in me rolling the Mt Vert ramp with the bro’s, and keeping the body in one piece along the way, well atleast until the wheels fall off..🤙🏼 📸 @pixelproofphotography taken in Blake Park by @caletolley

After an epic (and incredibly long) weekend I didn’t quite have the legs to perform how I would have liked in front of what felt like the entire Mount!.
