🎃👻 HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM CAL FIRE LNU! 🚒🔥 The CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit wishes everyone a safe, fun, and spooktacular Halloween! 🍬🎃 As ghosts, goblins, and superheroes take to the streets tonight, remember these simple safety tips to keep Halloween safe for everyone: 🎃 Be Seen: Wear bright costumes, use reflective materials, and carry flashlights or glow sticks. 👻 Stay Alert: Drivers should slow down and watch for trick-or-treaters, especially in neighborhoods. 🍬 Trick-or-Treat Safely: Use sidewalks and crosswalks, stay with your group, and look both ways before crossing streets. 🔥 Avoid Fire Hazards: Use battery-operated candles instead of open flames in jack-o’-lanterns and decorations. 🚒 Safety Is No Trick, It’s Our Treat! From all of us at CAL FIRE LNU, have a Happy and Safe Halloween! 🎃 by @calfirelnu
Beautiful day for ladder training with the Napa County Fire Explorers! Our Explorers are building their skills, gaining hands-on experience, and learning valuable techniques that will help prepare them for a future in the fire service. Follow along with our Boggs Mountain Helitack Crew as they work the Sept. 20 Chileno Fire in Marin County. @calfire utilizes helitack crews as a rapid initial attack resource on wildfires. They are often first on-scene to assess the wildfire and immediately begin taking direct control actions on the fire. The six firefighters and one captain deployed on the ground create critical firebreaks utilizing hand tools, back pumps and chainsaws. These highly skilled firefighters are the ultimate team players, in peak physical condition and respond where they are most needed. by @calfirelnu
A firefighter’s POV from the #GulchFire on Oct. 6 in southern Sonoma County. Watch as firefighters from #CALFIRELNU’s Station 46 in Glen Ellen work alongside our partners from the Schell-Vista Fire District and Sonoma Valley Fire District to establish a hose lay along the flank of the fire, while CAL FIRE S2T Airtankers deliver fire retardant drops overhead. Thanks to a rapid response, coordinated teamwork and an aggressive initial attack, this fire was held to just 1.25 acres. by @calfirelnu
This week our Boggs Mountain Helitack crew sharpened their hoist-rescue skills by conducting air rescue trainings. 👨‍🚒🚁 This specialized operation involves lowering a rescuer from a hovering helicopter to reach an injured or trapped person, securing them in a rescue device and hoisting both to safety. Training for such scenarios keeps our firefighters sharp, safe and ready for the real thing. Strong work, crew 👊👍 by @calfirelnu
