Fal started third grade last week as a proud Golden Hill Eagle! She recreated her standard first day of school poses and made a short video for her "you tube" channel for those who need to know first day of school essentials. Coug shoes with zero socks are now trending. LMK if you want to join our walking train (dogs or no dogs) up Cedar. Hope everyone heading off to school has a great year!!!

Took a short, solo hike on the Mobius Arch Loop Trail this morning. I would've gone for the whole loop, but my gut reminded me I have zero wilderness survival skills. Who wants to come here with me next time?! taken in Mobius Arch by @calicoug

Some reunions have a way of lighting me up! After 13 years staying in touch all over the globe, I got to hug my friends Claire, Ryan and their incredible two sons, and introduce Kyle and Fal to the family from the New Zealand Christmas card. Getting only a few hours together would never be enough to feel fully caught up, but it was plenty to remember how full you make my ❤️ feel. Thank you for making time for us on your visit @britbird73 and for proving friendship endures time and space. taken in Ocean Beach by @calicoug

Apparently, you can take a girl out of the womb and rear her in an urban SD neighborhood, but you'll never erase those farm girl genes or deep rooted heartstrings to the best from the Midwest.

Formally introducing our newest family member Franky (or Frankypants or Francisco or Prince Frank). He's a little over five months and so much fun. We got him from the @delmardogrescue who did an excellent job watching over and caring for him the first four months. Grateful to have a new fur buddy in the house. by @calicoug

Went to a super fun event/fundraiser at @artreachsd last night where we got to see some of the projects Fallyn worked on at her spring break camp (a Farmer's Market piece, a MTS trolley piece, and a garden rock "that will be there forever" - not pictured). When the sun went down, Fallyn tried out her basketball skills. Gotta love a girl in a gown shooting hoops in a parking lot!

In 2014, @jellyx619 and I went for a coffee at our favorite cart downtown and united with this sweetest, little soul. He was five at the time and carried the name Kobe which later we decided to lengthen to Kobiashi. After we brought him home, we learned quickly that we scored the rescue dog lottery. Kobiashi was so easy going, loyal, and grabbed the attention of anyone walking by with his fancy little prance and his signature handstand pees.

Fast forward three moves (Downtown to North Park to Golden Hill to South Park), a wedding, a baby, two job transitions and a Master's degree for @jellyx619, a worldwide pandemic, 2,500 virtual work meetings for me, preschool through 2nd grade for Fal, a home remodel, and thousands of local coffee shop and brewery visits...Kobiashi took his final fancy prance over the rainbow bridge last month at the age of 17. Kobiashi, you were so loved!

Thank you to everyone who helped us care for this special buddy over the years and for sharing your love and support in our sadness this last month. We appreciate you!

RIP, Sweetest Boy. ❤️ by @calicoug
