⚡️ Can’t believe we’re halfway thru the year already 😅. Grateful for another trip around the sun ☀️ 🙏🏿. Grateful for all the bday wishes, blessings and opportunities that have been flowing. It’s been a year of getting out of my own way, and just showing up the best I can. Some highlights have included reconnecting with old friends, breaking the internet with @mcdonalds crafting the strategy for McNugget Caviar and 1in8 first jobs campaign with @olandria and @arilennox, more baecations, more plantains, getting a W in my first match play golf tournament, new headshots, and dropping new music! Crazy part is there’s so much more to look forward to. Let’s keep it positive and keep it pushing. Ase.⚡️ by @calidb

⚡️ As an Ohio native, this sonics of this song pays homage to the legend Roger Troutman. His pioneering of the talk box sound paved the way for the T Pains and Daft Punks of the world. And his overall musicianship was so good that Prince tried to sign him, but he turned Prince down to remain independent with his family. Salute to my guy @azzofficial who I met randomly in London at one of the best open mics I’ve ever been to. The Universe is a magical place if you allow it to be. “Commentata” available on all platforms. More looseies otw yaya!⚡️ #afrobang by @calidb

⚡️ 2016…the start of something special. A creative journey that has given me more than I could ever dream of. I felt behind, finally putting myself out there as an artist in my 30s, after years of being behind the scenes. But now I know I was right on time. Launching @afrobang_worldwide as not only a brand but as a movement to bring the African diaspora together. I’m proud to look back at the energy we were able to create for this mission. Social media has amplified this vision and the influence of Africa can no longer be denied. As I continue to discover new things about my Ivorian roots, I’m hype to see that more and more African Americans are opening up to learn about their heritage. @ishowspeed ‘s stream is a prime example of the excitement that the diaspora is feeling rn. It’s still super early, but it’s happening fast. The conversations are moving beyond just entertainment and into daily cultural exchanges, politics, and spirituality. The more we can recognize our global power and the strength of our ancestors, the better off our future generations will be. 2016 to 2026 and beyond. Yaya!!! 🌍🙌🏿 #afrobang #makeafricagreatagain⚡️ by @calidb

⚡️ The Meditape: Sundiata’s Exile, is a meditation and mindfulness album for everyday living. For me, meditation has become a necessity. A tool that I can come back to and slowly let the distractions fade away. A tool that I use to cultivate the feeling gratitude. A tool that I use to relax at night. A life hack. A brief high and a moment of clarity. I hope this project can help you as well. Hit the link in bio for the vibes 🙏🏿⚡️ #sundiata #sundiatasexile #meditation by @calidb

⚡️ I wanna take a moment to thank the AfroBang family and everyone who’s been part of the community over the years. It’s been a blessing to create and witness how the diaspora has taken pride in continuing to unify and reclaim our heritage. This is what we envisioned when starting the brand in 2016. A pan-African wave of creativity that celebrates African traditions and rhythms. The experience I’ve had as a creative entrepreneur has had many highs and lows, but the journey of self discovery has been priceless. I’ve come to understand what “knowledge of self” truly means, and that it is a lifelong journey and not a destination. With that said, although I haven’t been able to grow the brand as much as we dreamed of, I’m super proud of the work we’ve done, and I’m hype for my peers who are continuing to do big things. In the culture wars we’re currently experiencing, it’s essential to build even more connections amongst the diaspora as we’re stronger together. When it comes to being outside, I admit that I’ve been moving more in the shadows these days, making impact where and when I can as I’ve been in a spiritual cocoon, and focusing more on family. Especially after the transition of 3 aunties and my uncle. Lots of personal growth has come from these practices, but I’m also now realizing how you can get stuck in a spiritual bubble, which can be limiting as well. Dwelling on your past life, judging every move you make, trying to avoid negative outcomes - the opposite of having faith. So it’s all been a learning process for real. Learning how to move forward and let go, instead of being stuck in paralysis by analysis and comparison mode. I’m starting ramble and I don’t know how to land this plane, but I just wanted to thank the community for lifting me up all these years, especially the ones who’ve reached out in my darkest hours. Your calls and texts always seem to come through at the right time. I can’t name everybody, but just know if we’ve connected the last few years, then you’ve been part of this transformative healing process, inspiring me to get up and keep going. Thank you thank you thank you. AfroBang ✊🏿🌍. Yaya! ⚡️ 📸 @sulyiman_ by @calidb
