I never take videos of my yoga workshops for student privacy but my husband (secretly) took this at a recent yoga picnic I organized with several lovely folks & a lot of bugs 😅 (I don’t think most folks can identify the student in the video but if you are that student and want me to take it down let me know 🫶 I really don’t mind.) Everyone who’s known me for a while knows I close every year to go to @fujirock_jp + camp for 4 nights + walk a million steps + see so many amazing artists. Yoga helps me at Fuji Rock, not only in the sense of walking without pain, but also knowing when to rest. Surrendering to whatever the weather is (torrential rain, heat, humidity) and enjoying it without preference. Being ok with the bug dudes and making peace with the fact that some folks are annoying and some spots get ridiculously crowded.Before I embark I have a few more classes on Tuesday. A little reminder that what we see on here isn’t reality. My husband accidentally took this (hilarious) photo of me looking like I have looooong legs when in reality I’m barely over 5 foot, have big hips & shoulders, and you know what? Cool. These big strong hips and shoulders have defended me from a couple of assaults here in Japan. Thanks to them I could escape. Some folks would love for us to be tiny so we can be taken over. If you come to my studio you won’t hear me telling you how to lose weight, but I will teach you what I know about stability, breath, and finding joy. Life’s too short to spend it worrying about becoming smaller. I always have a trial coupon available for ¥1000 if you’d like to try. Oh what a week it was! Thanks to the California Dept. community for always being patient when I take days off for gigs and rest. First, playing at the French institute with so many amazing folks but especially the very talented @marlon_magnee (from @la_femme__musique ) was incredible. Even typhoons & earthquakes couldn’t keep us from playing. 💕Then finally seeing @stereolabgroop for the 1st time was like floating on a cloud. Beautiful artists with beautiful music & messages. I love how they’re not shy to speak up about fasci$m & to remind us we are stronger together. Hey folks in (or passing through) Tokyo! Due to extenuating circumstances, a last-minute pop-up residency is available at California Bliss Dept. from July 22nd-July 27th. This space is ideal for making art, practicing yoga/meditation, teleworking, recording/composing quiet music, writing your book, filming yoga sessions, a creative photo shoot, or something else that aligns with the mission of California Bliss Dept. Please note that this place is not available for cooking meals or sleeping overnight. It is a 3-minute walk to the subway and surrounded by many restaurants, cafes, and traditional shops. This studio occupies the 5th & 6th floor of the building and requires walking up a flight of stairs. There is a desk, a shower, a toilet, basic tea/coffee making facilities, a basic futon to crash out for a power nap. There is also a 6th floor private rooftop terrace with a city view. This studio is for personal use, not parties or events. ¥50,000~ (This is the lowest price.
