Yesterday reminded me why I do this. 🇺🇸

I had the opportunity to host a group of young Soldiers at my Swimply pool, but the best part wasn’t the pool—it was the conversation.

We talked about budgeting, investing, retirement, building wealth, and, most importantly, keeping the right perspective in every situation. Life will throw challenges your way, but your perspective determines how you respond and how far you’ll go.

I shared that your rank doesn’t determine your future—your habits, discipline, and mindset do. Start investing early. Stay out of unnecessary debt. Build assets. Plan for retirement now, not later. Every decision you make today shapes the life you’ll live tomorrow.

Whether I’m hosting guests or mentoring Soldiers and veterans, if I can help someone think bigger and prepare for a better future, then it was time well spent.

Part 3 ❤️ | Our Story, Our Perspective

In this part of the conversation, we took a step back from talking about relationships in general and shared our own journey.

When we first asked whether men and women really know what they want in relationships, it made us reflect on our own experiences. The truth is, we both thought we knew what we wanted—until we found each other.

Being in this relationship has challenged us, stretched us, and introduced us to a level of love, communication, emotional safety, and partnership that neither of us had fully experienced before. It reminded us that sometimes what we’re looking for isn’t just a list of qualities in another person—it’s finding someone who brings out the best in you and creates a relationship where you both continue to grow.

Our story isn’t about perfection. It’s about discovering that love can look different when it’s built on trust, intentionality, and a genuine desire to understand one another.

After the conversations Howard and I had during Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, we wanted to keep the dialogue going—this time by shifting into relationships, communication, and the real questions men and women often have about each other.

Because if we’re being honest, a lot of people say they want love, commitment, peace, consistency, or partnership—but sometimes what we say we want and what we actually choose don’t always align. So in this conversation, Howard and I unpacked whether men and women truly know what they want in relationships, how that changes with maturity and experience, and why understanding yourself may be one of the most important parts of building a healthy relationship.
