I love how dahlias persevere. They’re native to Mexico, so many people think they grow well in heat. But they grow in the mountains in Mexico, where temperatures are cooler. Once it gets far above 90, their growth stalls out. But even with less than ideal conditions, drought, and neglect, these little potatoes want to grow into 5- and 6-foot tall majestic flowering plants. I love how they reach for the sky. by @calindrome

My mother was interviewed by @usatoday for a piece on where people were during the attacks on 9/11. She was on a plane headed to NY, and was grounded in Atlanta for several days. Also relearning how the origins of the banjo lie in Black culture (and how @rhiannongiddens’ music amplifies and echoes that truth), and how sailors on whaling vessels hundreds of years ago shared music that influenced world harmonies. by @calindrome

My syllabus for Advanced Playwriting may still be in draft mode, but craft services is ready for my students!

Healthier snacks that will not overly tempt me are key. I learned that the hard way last term when I bought grab-and-go bags of Late July chips. by @calindrome
