After 7 hours and around 200km behind the wheel of the MG Hector Tomahawk EV, one thing becomes clear: this is an electric SUV built around comfort, practicality and family-friendly usability rather than outright driving excitement. Our drive covered city roads, highways, hills and forest stretches, giving us a varied look at how the Tomahawk performs in everyday conditions.

The 204hp and 310Nm motor delivers enough performance for daily driving and effortless highway overtakes, while the comfortable ride, light steering and strong cabin insulation make long journeys easy. Based on our mixed driving, we estimate a real-world range of around 390–415km, although smoother driving could improve that figure.

Key highlights:
• Around 200km driven over approximately 7 hours
• Tested across city, highway, hilly and forest roads
• Estimated real-world range: 390–415km
• 204hp and 310Nm electric motor
• Light steering and good visibility despite its size
• Sport mode adds extra urgency
• Comfortable and composed ride
• Rear suspension can feel slightly stiff over sharper bumps
• Excellent cabin insulation at highway speeds
• Spacious, premium-feeling cabin
• Comfortable front seats and generous middle-row space
• Usable third row, though better suited to shorter passengers
• 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen
• Gesture controls for AC and music functions
• Pro Pet, Camp, Nap, Quiet and Energising experience modes
• Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capability
• 5-seater boot space: 610 litres
• 7-seater boot space: 192 litres with all rows up
• 7-seater boot space: 528 litres with third row folded
• Large panoramic sunroof
• Strong overall focus on family practicality

The Tomahawk EV’s biggest strength is its ability to make everyday electric mobility feel easy. It isn’t trying to be the sportiest EV in the segment; instead, it brings together space, comfort, technology, practicality and relaxed highway manners in a package designed for family duty.

Would you choose the Tomahawk EV as your family electric SUV? Tell us in the comments!

The Range Rover Electric uses a dual-motor AWD setup producing 543 bhp and 850 Nm, backed by a 118.5kWh battery and an 800-volt electrical architecture. It promises up to 600km of WLTP range while retaining a 900mm wading depth and serious off-road capability.

Kia India has officially confirmed the Carnival Hybrid, marking a major shift for its flagship premium MPV that has so far been offered only with a diesel engine in India. The petrol-electric version is expected to go on sale in the coming weeks, expanding Kia’s electrified lineup in the premium segment.

The Carnival Hybrid will use a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a more powerful electric motor, aiming to deliver smoother, quieter and more efficient performance while retaining the Carnival’s premium MPV positioning.

Key highlights:
• 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine
• Petrol engine: 178 BHP and 265 Nm
• Electric motor: 72 BHP and 304 Nm
• 6-speed automatic transmission
• Front-wheel drive expected as standard
• AWD anticipated on higher trims
• Existing 2.2-litre diesel to continue alongside the hybrid
• Diesel output: 193 PS and 441 Nm
• Current Carnival Limousine Plus: ₹59.65 lakh ex-showroom
• Expected hybrid price: around ₹61.5–62 lakh
• Expected launch: coming weeks
• Designed to offer lower NVH and improved fuel efficiency
• Competes with premium MPVs such as the MG M9

For buyers in markets such as Delhi-NCR, the hybrid powertrain could make the Carnival considerably more appealing by offering a petrol-based alternative to the existing diesel model, while also bringing the refinement benefits of electrification.

With the diesel Carnival continuing alongside it, Kia is effectively giving premium MPV buyers two different powertrain choices. Would you pick the Carnival Hybrid over the diesel? Tell us in the comments!
