Fun day with family yesterday. Watched and ridden some trains and grabbed a nice lunch by the shore.

Tested Helios 44M-7 adapted to Nikon Z5. Nice fit on the camera, even w added adapter bulk. Also my quest to find nice Linux photo processing software continues: processed those images using RapidRAW. Liking it so far. by @caliwinter

Touch grass.. or sand. Or surf.

Took those last Saturday, my second time at the beach this year, first time walking surf. Year had me locked in as all get, and mostly - it was worth it. Had a price too, naturally.

Need to recalibrate now, re focus. Take in the surf, and sand, and details, and textures of course. by @caliwinter

Off to a new school year!

PS. and here I was thinking that I’ll be safe from him catching up to my height until high school. It appears that the kiddo will overtake me by new year! 😱 by @caliwinter

#catruday post: Smokee

Haven’t done one in a bit, and this is a bittersweet one. Losing two cats in a year would do that.
Did Smokee felt that loss? I’d say - yeah. When Buddy disappeared, she was keeping watch for him with Sushi. Later, as Sushi declined, she insisted on checking up on the old bat (much to Sushi’s annoyance too - Sushi staying true to her ways till the end).
Now she is more determined to look after us, and purr our stresses away.

Sushi 🐱 (03/17/2011-06/26/26)

She was a special one, no doubt there.

Crystal (@ksenfully.good) and I had adopted her shortly after our wedding, and she had gone with us through all our ups and downs, through the joys and losses. She grew to be Crystal’s and my “manager” - building whole routines of what we needed to do (according to her), protector of all our kids, great cat “sister” to Smokee and Buddy.

Bossy, and fussy. Nosy and curious. Always there. Always attentive. Loving and protective, while being a complete butt at times. All her.

Small blessing, she passed at home, in one of her favorite safe spots, after spending her time with Crystal and me.

- It’s been a week. Miss the Old Bat.

Not an easy one. Foggy and blurry at first, feeling the emptiness of “usual” moments, all those little things we’ve all grown accustomed to.

Loss is real. Time’s supposed to heal, but the fact is that once you experience it, you pretty much end up living around it.

Her ashes will arrive today.
