I’m excited to share this! I’ve been thinking about making more intentional gifts and this is the result: remixing the birthday bag and card. For a little artist’s 3rd birthday I stocked this Calixto handmade pouch with mess free paint and a collage. An invitation to create, to experiment with new materials and a place to store them. From my time as an early childhood educator, I learned that children enjoy learning more with references and hands on experience. What happens when you combine this with the concept of gift giving? New ideas emerge and a creative path opens. Anyway, I’m enjoying the process of making literal gift bags … 💼 🎁💝 what do you guys think? by @calixtotradingco

a gift of beauty for community:Bags and Bouquets 💐 was acollaborative drawing prompt by @rosecityfashiondrawing utilizing 4 sheets of paper on a table, participants cycle through each sheet, adding to the drawing and chatting about what they see. the tablescape featured vivacious @calixtotradingco handbags paired with an assortment of locally grown flowers sourced from various vendors @oregonflowergrowers The final ingredient? The people! At this @kinship members only event we sat together, chatted, doodled, let loose creatively, laughed, shared stories, nourished our soul with delicious potluck and fed our eyes with beauty. We all left with a little more warmth in our hearts. The drawings will live inside the walls of this fashion coworking space, original artwork - site specific. favorite living artists: @catepasquarelli builds tiny landscapes sealed under glass that feel like something wild just happened but you’re not quite sure what. This Brooklyn-based sculptor and diorama artist, Cooper Union BFA alum has shown at the Brooklyn Museum, SPRING/BREAK, and Perrotin. She is also my friend 💚 and she carried one of my pom pom crochet bags through NYC like it was the most natural thing. An artist who builds worlds inside glass cases, walking the city carrying a world woven by hand.
