Spent the day at the Kente Museum in Bonwire, the village widely credited as the origin of Kente cloth. Such an insightful trip learning the history behind Ghana’s most iconic fabric. From the legend of its creation to the intricate weaving techniques passed down through generations of master weavers. Watching the artisans work the traditional looms thread by thread gave me a whole new appreciation for every pattern and color, each one carrying its own meaning and story.

One of the goals I set for myself this year is to intentionally learn more about my people, our history, and our culture.

Visiting the Okomfo Anokye Sword Site in Kumasi was one of those moments. Standing in a place so deeply connected to the history of the Ashanti people reminded me that understanding where we come from is an important part of understanding who we are.
