This evolving Thing and some of the moments that lead to it. Acacia sap, rain, dirt, graphite dust, charcoal dust, pigment, and colour pencil on paper. Probably a bit of maple syrup and definitely coffee stains too. by @callenfran

Collaborating with the front yard - the dirt and the rain the snails and the bugs. And a log. And a brick. Here’s some process shots, some of the later ones being the beginning. Dirt, graphite dust, pigment, sap, colour pencils, snail trails, stab wounds and scuff marks. Coffee stains. Tea. Dew. More colouring in. Thoughts about stuff soaking in with it. Come and join me and @georginawilloughbyart for our drawing/markmaking/printmaking workshop in @naturefestivalsa . We will explore what marks we can make in collaboration with the trees and the dirt there too. by @callenfran

Student Work … random selection from teaching a “Mixed Tape”sketchbook session @adelaidecentralschool on Saturday. It was way fun and they were awesome 🤩. We played around with blind contour, gestural drawing, negative space, collage , walking drawing, found materials… too much fun. ✏️✏️✏️ by @callenfran

I just found this … one of the first photos I printed in the darkroom at Underdale UniSA. I was 19. So it was late 1994. I remember the moment, I remember what was going through my head. I set up my tripod in my bedroom. Thought about this thing that was on my mind and pressed the squishy black button that was attached to the cable attached to my camera. I put two negatives in the over head thing superimposed over each other. I remember when I took the photo of the branches. It was the bare quince tree after rain in the winter in my mums back yard. It was a beautiful misty day and I took a lot of photos…it was a bit ago but I remember it like it just happened. I was haunted by this song all through my teens too. And I remember the first time I heard it clear as yesterday. Few bits of dust got on my negative or something but I still kinda liked the photo. by @callenfran

And then coloured pencils came out to play during long conversations over paper that’s been rain soaked and held to the ground with an acacia log. Sprinkled with graphite dust. And swept with a broom. by @callenfran
