Since our beginning, Callen Lorde has pioneered healthcare equity in the spirit of resistance. Today, Callen-Lorde's grassroots history is still alive in our care and advocacy work—particularly as threats mount against our communities. That's why this year's Pride theme is Care is Our Resistance. The visuals, illustrated and designed by @heyrooney are inspired by historic advocacy signage and flyers, and this month we will be looking back on the fight for LGBTQ+ rights throughout the decades. Our past is something we carry into the future. Our ability to advocate for LGBTQ+ health equity is made possible because of the advocates who came before, including our namesakes — Michael Callen, Audre Lorde, Thea Spyer, Keith Haring and Cecilia Gentili — who are each honored and celebrated within the artwork. In this moment we cannot relent. We hope you’ll join us throughout Pride season as we show up, show out and ask our community: What does care look like for you? #LGBTQHealth #CareIsOurResistance #Pride2026 #queer #LGBTQrights by @callenlorde

"Self-care" may start to sound like a buzzword or an empty suggestion, but it is an essential practice with tangible results. Established in 2011, International Self-Care Day exists to promote 24 hours of practicing taking care of yourself. Today, consider doing one or all of the following:- Take a 10 to 30 min device-free break to walk, do some deep breathing or meditate! - Drink a full glass of water. - Set a limit on screen time for the rest of the day. - Before you go to bed, write a recap of your day. Take a moment to care for yourself, so you can take care of others. by @callenlorde

On March 12, 1990 activists came together in pressuring the government to pass the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) with a landmark action remembered as The Capitol Crawl. The passing of the act had been delayed by business interests opposed to the cost of making public transit more accessible. More than 60 activists who used wheelchairs and mobility aids crawled up the 83 steps of the U.S. Capitol building, vividly demonstrating the building's lack of accessible entrances and representing the systemic barriers disabled people faced in accessing employment, public housing, transportation and infrastructure. To learn more about this historic demonstration among others in the disability justice movement, watch the 2020 documentary "Crip Camp" linked in our bio! by @callenlorde

A day for your brain! World Brain Day serves to highlight access to care for over 3 billion people living with neurological issues. While we have made much progress understanding the brain, millions of people cannot get the care they need for these issues and neurological issues are the leading cause of disability across the entire world. A healthy brain is essential to leading a healthy life, and brain health is for everyone. by @callenlorde

July 17 is National #HIVPreventionDay. As our HIV prevention toolbox expands to new PrEP modalities - including recent long-acting injectable (LAI) options - and HIV treatment advances proved that "U=U" (meaning undetectable equals untransmittable), it is important to ensure that every person has access to lifesaving preventative care. Want to learn more? Come to Callen-Lorde and get started on your PrEP journey. by @callenlorde
