Some people become part of a place. JP was part of Callicoon Hills.

We are heartbroken by the sudden passing of Jean Paul “JP” Medina.

JP was a huge part of the history of Callicoon Hills, but his impact reaches far beyond these grounds. Throughout his journey, he touched so many lives with his talent, his passion for hospitality, his generosity, and the way he brought people together.

For those of us who had the privilege of knowing him, working alongside him, sharing a meal with him, or simply being welcomed into his world, JP left an impression that will not be forgotten.

Callicoon Hills holds countless memories of JP within its walls, around its tables, and across this property. We are incredibly grateful that this place can now help hold space for the people who loved him.

On September 8, we will open our doors to JP’s family, friends, colleagues, and community as we gather to celebrate his life and the extraordinary mark he left on so many.

Our hearts are with Sarah, JP’s family, and everyone mourning this tremendous loss.

JP will forever be part of the story of Callicoon Hills. And we will be forever grateful that our story was part of his.

Oksana was the only person who truly listened to what I wanted. She quickly turned my ideas into a beautiful sketch, brought the vision to life, took my measurements, and just a month and a half later, my dream dress was hanging in my home.
She has a beautiful studio in Manhattan, and her level of client care is truly exceptional. Every step of the process felt thoughtful, personal, and effortless.
I am incredibly grateful to her and recommend her with all my heart. Even if you don’t live in New York, I genuinely believe it’s worth flying here to have your wedding dress made by Oksana.

A year ago today, Daisy and I got married in The Catskills!

For some of you, this might sound shocking because it’s not the “big” wedding we just had in DR. In a lot of ways, it wasn’t even really planned to happen that way.

When we first got engaged, we were so excited that we tried to pull the wedding together as fast as possible. We quickly learned weddings don’t exactly work like that, and eventually pushed the bigger celebration back. But one thing never changed…we knew we wanted to be married.

Then somehow, the universe stepped in a little. Without telling Daisy, I entered an IG contest from @CallicoonHills and we won what ended up being the small, intimate wedding of our dreams.

One part of the contest was to talk about our relationship and what this wedding would mean to us. The Catskills plays a huge part in our story. It was the first trip we took together where I think we both realized that after 10 years of friendship, maybe this was becoming something much bigger. So getting married there felt strangely full circle. It was quiet, peaceful, and intentional. Being chosen out of all the possible couples also felt like a sign from the universe…it was meant to be.

Because it was small and calm and mostly just about us, I had time to really take in what was happening. I remember standing there feeling completely certain that this was exactly where I was supposed to be and exactly who I was supposed to do life with.

One year later, I’m still just as sure.

Happy anniversary Daisy! I’ve married you twice now and I’d do it a million times over. Thank you for supporting me, encouraging me, and helping me steer the ship of our life together. You remind me of what I’m capable of and bring me back down to earth when I’m clearly trying to do too much 🤣. I’m so lucky to have you by my side for all we’ve done and all we’ve yet to do.
