allow me to introduce

🪾Willomena (aka Wailomena) Petrina

one of the seven “Gothic Garden” Garden Monsters on display now @newfieldstoday for Harvest Nights

the exhibit will be open all the time now through the first week of November in the gardens

if you do go visit, snap a pic with her & send me a message! I’d love to see :))

swipe to see her behind-the-sculpt ->

(artist statement)

Willomena Petrina, Lady of the Lost. Born from the many tears shed for a once-great civilization, she rose from its cracks to become a protector, guide, and living bridge between what has been and what is yet to come. She weeps for what once was, yet urges life onward.

Heavily inspired by Dark Romanticism and the Gothic Aesthetic, Willomena blends dramatic forms with whimsical, organic elements to celebrate nature’s duality. Both haunting and graceful, she stands as a guardian of fallen Gothic grandeur, long since reclaimed by the garden. Forever the weeping woman of ruin 🌀

made with wood, wire, fabric, foam, paint, found/given materials including mannequins, mirrors, jewelry/beads, gobs of belt from the floor of an abandoned warehouse, and lots and lots of @pal_tiya (and love)

3rd year doing this thing and I couldn’t love it more - even in the hardest and darkest moments. This sculpt challenged me not only physically (hours and hours of standing on ladders is not for the weak) but in ways I hadn’t yet faced so intensely in my art: unseen mental battles with insecurity, anxiety, and the feeling of not being good enough lingered throughout the entirety of this journey. Imposter syndrome was (is) through the roof on this one even still. But alas we persist.

“What is the best way to do it? How is it done? By doing it.” Mary Oliver

& the evolution of an idea

@calliewildercreative sculpting a big ol coyote head with Pal Tiya Premium.
“Commission piece I’ve been working on the past couple months! excited to see it come to life!
twas quite a journey figuring out how to (securely) hang this guy - with the generous loan of a cutting board and the help of my dad, we got it done ✌🏽
Finished up the back sculpt so now it’s time to paint and send this pup home 👻”

🙌🏽 Not kidding, we got pretty excited 😝 watching Callie’s sculpture being created when we found the reels yesterday, which is why we smushed them together so you could see em all 😉
Callie says she is working on another piece with the product and we cannot wait to see what happens next … by @calliewildercreative

birthday plates for my niece and nephew!!!

the first plate I made for my niece years ago now still fuels my nightmares…so with my nephews first birthday rolling in, I took the opportunity to make new - & they coordinate!

feeling much more like me, inspired by symbols of growth (tree rings + spirals) I’m so grateful they get to keep these forever and have a reminder they’re growing every birthday :)

which is your favorite and why?? 🧐 by @calliewildercreative

Remember this project?

So very proud of my first (commissioned) wall mural! A huge thank you to @bareunfiltered @piperandclaire for letting me take the reins on this one.

While murals aren’t my specialty, I absolutely loved the challenge. Anything worthwhile never comes easy & I’m always looking for the next challenge 🤠

Also included some sneak peaks into @bareunfiltered’s very first First Friday at @thestutzbuilding - an amazing turnout! Check out the studio (and the mural) during the next First Friday in February!! by @calliewildercreative
