🌿 Hi everyone. My name is Brittany, I'm a Nurse Practitioner (NP) + therapist with nearly 15 years of mental healthcare experience. As a Beamsville local, I am excited to bring my services within @aedismvmtstudio to increase access to mental health care within our community and the greater Niagara region. 📍✨️

My goal is to offer a streamlined place to get support, without you having to bounce back and forth between a primary care provider for a diagnosis or treatment plan, and then a separate therapist for support. 🧠💼

As an NP, I can formally diagnose mental health issues, build treatment plans including medication recommendations and provide individual therapeutic support. 💊💬

I have a special interest in supporting young adults (16+) navigating emotional challenges and ways of coping, as well as adult women and individuals managing the weight of anxiety, life stressors and burnout. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, action-oriented, and informed by CBT and DBT methods. 🌱💪

🗓️ I will be accepting virtual clients across Ontario in the coming weeks. In-person appointments will be available in my office at Aedis Studio after Nov 1st.

📧 Email calmatherapy@outlook.com if you would like to be notified when my booking site goes live.

💰 A note on fees and insurance:
My private NP services operate on a fee-for-service basis and are not covered under OHIP. However, many clients are able to get reimbursed through their workplace benefits.

I highly recommend calling your provider to ask if your specific plan covers Nurse Practitioner services and/or Nurse Psychotherapy.

Talk soon,
Brittany Medeiros-Peixoto, NP

There’s a fine line between protecting your peace and isolating yourself.

Hitting cancel can go two ways:

The healthy side: You’re genuinely exhausted, your social battery is at zero, and you just need a quiet night to recharge.

The heavy side: It may be a warning sign that anxiety or burnout is taking over when pulling away feels easier than facing the world.

Cancelling plans to rest is completely valid. But if you’re pulling away because everything feels too draining, please remember that connection can be healing too.

Reflections of a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner:

Our healthcare system is fast-paced, forcing quick solutions. But true mental wellness takes time and space to unpack heavy layers without watching the clock.

One of the wildest, saddest realizations over the years is that most of my clients have never been truly listened to before. Deep listening and validation is medicine.

If the Sunday scaries got you last night, hopefully today gives you a little breathing room.

And if your brain has already started planning everything you need to do tomorrow…

Monday can wait.

“But I’m still functioning.”

It’s easy to assume that if someone is still going to school or work, keeping up with responsibilities and showing up for others, they must be doing okay.

But functioning can tell you what someone is managing to do. It doesn’t always tell you what it’s taking them to do it.

Sometimes the first clue is the five minutes sitting in the driveway before going inside.

Or cancelling plans you would normally enjoy.

Or getting through the day and having absolutely nothing left afterwards.

That’s why when someone tells me things feel "harder,” I’m interested in the details.

What’s changed?
What still feels good?
What takes more effort than it used to?
And what happens when the day finally stops?

Not every difficult moment is a mental health disorder. But “I’m still functioning” isn’t the end of the conversation either.

Sometimes it’s where the more useful questions begin.

If relaxing makes you feel like you're being lazy, try this:

Notice the guilt.
Don't argue with it.
Rest anyway.

It's okay to feel uncomfortable while you're learning to rest.

And if you’re tired of figuring it out alone, we’re here. 🤍 by @calmatherapy.ca

Support starts with a whisper, not a breaking point. 🍂

For nearly 15 years working in mental healthcare, I’ve noticed a quiet, heavy pattern. So many of the individuals I work with start our very first conversation by minimizing their own reality.

They say things like:

•"I know my family is healthy, I shouldn't be complaining."

•"I'm just navigating a busy season, everyone gets tired."

•"I have a great job and a good life, I don't know why I feel like this."

We’ve somehow convinced ourselves that we aren't allowed to ask for help until the house is completely on fire. We swallow our daily anxiety, carry chronic burnout like a badge of honor, and keep pretending we are perfectly fine while holding the sky up for everyone else-managing expanding careers, growing children, and aging parents all at once.

But you don't have to wait until you are completely broken to deserve a safe space to land. If you are constantly living on edge, waking up already feeling emotionally depleted, or navigating a heavy life transition where you feel entirely disconnected from your own joy, that is enough.
You don't have to prove your exhaustion is "bad enough" to earn support.

When I built Calma Mental Health Services, I wanted to create a space where you don't need a crisis, a perfect script, or have all the answers just to walk through the door. Together, we look at what’s really going on beneath the surface. Then, we build a practical, real-world plan to help you find relief-entirely at your own pace.

You don't have to figure it all out on your own. And you certainly don't have to wait for a breaking point to finally choose yourself. 🤍

🚀 Our Upcoming Timelines:

💻 Virtual Sessions: Launching across Ontario.

🏥 In-Person Care: Doors open after November 1st at my office inside Aedis Studio right here in Beamsville.

📧 Let's take the first step together: Send a quick email over to calmatherapy@outlook.com to get more information.
