Cal Poly Athletics was deeply saddened to learn about the recent passing of Steve Simmons, who served as our men’s track and field coach from 1971-75 and was inducted into the Cal Poly Hall of Fame in 2003. Known by many as the “Godfather” of the sport in the U.S. for his positive impact, Simmons mentored 12 national champions, 45 All-Americans and three Olympians during his time at Cal Poly. Thank you Coach Simmons for dedicating your life to serving others and for having such a positive impact on the athletes you mentored.#RideHigh by @calpolytfxc
