Hint 🥹🏜️🥹 Don’t cry, I’m not gonna tell you the name, but if you’re planning a Utah trip with @onxoffroad, this easy trail should definitely make the cut. Drop a 😭 below if you know this one.

Am I lazy? 😴😥😩 If you know me, you’ll know that’s not the case. Do I avoid difficult situations or hard work? Nope. I think these are the common misconceptions about E Mountain bikes. I had them to an extent myself. And some may take the e-bike route for these reasons, but my guess is not most. For me, it’s primarily about access.

I live in Bend, Oregon and I’ve ridden all the trails nearby. And there are a lot of them. I raced Downhill for 10 years, and I gravitate (see what I did there) toward more technical downhill trails. To ride those trails there tends to be a lot of vertical ascent. Some of which is shortish, and I’ve always believed you have to pay to play. Ride the ups so you can enjoy the downs. But there are quite a few trails that have loooong ups that prevent me from riding them. I guess partly because of fitness, which might border on laziness. But it takes a lot of time to get fit enough to grind a two hour uphill trail. And at 55 years old, fitness doesn’t come easy or quick. Sure, I could jump on the TRT craze, but I’d rather jump on an e-mtb, make the climbs happen a bit faster, and really enjoy the downhills. It also takes a lot of time to do the big climbs. Time I don’t always have when I’m getting out for a “quick” ride.

For example… There’s a local trail here named Tyler’s Traverse. The climb is mostly fire road and some singletrack, and then a super fun downhill back to the trailhead. For me, even mid summer when I’m in decent shape, it’s a grind of a climb that would take me about an hour. The whole trail might take me a little under 2 hours. With my e-bike I can get out for a lunch ride and do the climb in under 30 minutes, and all of Tyler’s in about 50. I can do the ride in about half the time, still get a good workout, and I’m not wiped out, so I can come home, shower and be productive the rest of the day.

I’m also stoked to ride more remote trails with the e-mtb. I just did a super fun epic ride in Tahoe that would have taken 6 hours on an analog mtb, but we did it in about 3.5 hrs on the ebikes.

We NEEDED this 📍🧭📍So many great booths to check out at Overland Expo PNW this weekend, but my one gripe is that there are so many vendors it’s hard to find what you’re looking for. With @onxoffroad navigating Expo is a breeze. Once in the app, just do a search for the brand/booth you want to visit, and there it is on the map, with real time navigation to get you there. Such a game changer. Who’s headed out to Overland Expo PNW this weekend?

Who’s coming to Oregon for @overlandexpo PNW this weekend? I’ll be out there roaming around on Friday. And at the @rollercambuckle booth A713 from 1-3pm. Stop by and say hi!

Which stake you packing? ❓🥩❓ Sandstakes keep your awnings, tarps and tents in place in sandy spots and windy conditions where standard stakes fail. Each metal Sandstake has a reinforced twisted strike plate and guy wire with a 90° locking mechanism and protective coating. Their patented deep anchor tension system (DATS) provides up to 14x more holding capacity than standard sand stakes.

Whether you’re securing camp at the dunes, anchoring emergency equipment on remote beaches, or setting up in loose desert terrain, these stakes deliver the holding power you need when you need it the most.

How to use them:

✅ Connect: Attach guy wire through stake opening
✅ Position: Insert stake at 45-degree angle away from load
✅ Secure: Connect to load using Roperollers.
✅ Set: Drive stake deep into sand until only top portion remains visible
✅ Test: Apply gradual tension to ensure proper set before full loading

More time for this 🏜️ !!! Most people just want more. More money. More things. But money can’t buy more time. And things can’t make you happy. Well… some things can 🤷🏻‍♂️😂.

Lifelong friends 🙏🏼 How many friends have you stayed in contact with your whole life? That you can still say anything to? Bring up any topic and you’re both nodding your heads and laughing. The “old days”, your hometown, and all your shared crazy experiences and stories. Even religion and politics. I’d imagine not many. I’m incredibly thankful for this guy flying coast to coast to spend the week out camping with me. We’ve been best friends forever and time and space haven’t changed that. Did I mention that both of our names are Dustin 😂. And we grew up together in Kansas. Now maybe the audio track makes even more sense!

Over Memorial Day weekend, we spent 4 nights in the Oregon outback and scored 3 of the best camp sights I’ve ever stayed in. I’m excited to share more pics and video of the trip. It takes me a bit to get things organized, and I overthink my posts but these days. So be patient with me. by @calrunr
