RHYTHM STAGE 2024 - DREAMS DO COME TRUE 🥹

Three years ago, at my first @rhythmandvines , playing on the Rhythm Stage felt like the ultimate dream—one that I never thought would actually come true. But in 2024, it did.

I can’t thank you all enough for the support that brought me to this moment. To everyone who showed up early for my set, your love and energy mean the world to me. There’s no feeling more incredible than looking out at a crowd, seeing so many friends euphoric and united in the music. To me, that’s what it’s all about—connection, presence, and love.

It’s taken me a while to post this because watching the videos back has been overwhelming in the best way. Those 45 minutes on stage will stay with me forever.

To @rhythmandvines , thank you for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity—it’s a moment I’ll cherish forever. To my boy @mace.wav , thank you for helping me bring my vision of incorporating mental health into my intro to life (listen to my last two slides to hear my intro). You’re so incredibly underrated, and your talent deserves far more recognition. Huge thanks as well to @troydeblack and @bevannichols for introducing me to the club scene in 2022, and to @tkdet.music for mentoring me in my early days. 🤍

I owe so much to all of you for helping this dream become reality. I’m not sure what’s next for me in the DJing world, but this experience has left me in awe, and I’ll carry it with deep appreciation for years to come.

Many of you have been asking when the brotherly B2B was going to happen - and here we are😤

This year’s been a big shift for me coming into my internship year as a Clinical Psychologist, which has meant the DJing has been on the back foot, but at some point something special had to pull me back in🫡

Auckland, you truly don’t know what’s coming😘

SEE YOU IN THE F#€KING RAVE MY BEAUTIFUL ANIMALS🦍

‼️2024 RECAP‼️
I usually don’t share personal things on social media, but this year I felt an urge to reflect on and share what I’ve accomplished. I’m really proud of myself and the person I’m growing to be.
Here are some highlights throughout the year:
- I worked with mental health clients during my first Clinical Psychology placement, treating presenting issues ranging from childhood complex trauma to depression and anxiety.
- I headlined two shows; in Hamilton, I became the only artist to sell out Voltage before it sadly closed down, however, raised $800 for a @iamhope_nz in the process
- I ate healthier and exercised regularly, losing around 11kg since the start of the year.
- I released my first mix on a record label (@oneeightyrecords ).
- At my second placement, I worked with 8 cancer patients helping them cope with cancer.
- I began prioritising sleep by aiming for at least 8 hours a night.
- I travelled to two countries with both my family and my partner’s family.
- I saw my favourite artist live, @travisscott
- I completed my thesis on the interrelationships of variables influencing the fear of death and dying, moving closer to achieving a Master of Arts in Psychology.
- I learnt to cherish every moment with my family, recognising the fragility of life and how tragic things can happen to beautiful people.
- I passed my second-year Clinical Psychology exam with the best feedback I’ve ever had.
- My relationship with my partner @maddi_ella continues to grow, reminding me daily how lucky I am to have a best friend who makes life so fulfilling and meaningful.
- I got the Clinical Psychology Internship I set out to get.
- I am now a registered Intern Clinical Psychologist and will soon fulfil my lifelong dream of helping those who need mental health support the most.
- And finally, this weekend, I’ll play on the Rhythm Stage at @rhythmandvines
I feel so privileged to live the life I do, and I make an effort to remind myself often so I never take it for granted. I hope you also take the time to recognise the wins in your own life—big or small. You deserve to feel proud of yourself. Thank you to everyone who made this year so meaningful🤍 by @calx.nz
